Airbnb co-pays
Booked a place on Airbnb. Just over $1,000 for 11 people! Cheap, cool! And here comes the voucher, in which the mandatory surcharges are another €542. Namely:
Compulsory extra costs payable in cash on check-in
- Deposit: EUR 150 returned 14 days after departure
- Final Cleaning: EUR 150
- Bed linen: EUR 10 p.p./Stay (and we are 11 people, that is €110)
- Tourist tax EUR 2 /person/night (Indication) € 132.00
Is it fair and what should I do?

Yes, it's all fair.
Will have to pay.

Bed supplement? Really!?
I'd rather cancel my booking than pay these crooks.

Usually on Airbnb, cleaning is immediately "driven" into the calculator. And so nothing terrible: nobody canceled the tour, the deposit is generally a common practice (it will be returned to you). The bed, well, the owner rents to the laundry and knows how much it will cost him.
Often you can bargain for a deposit or cleaning ("we are neat, mature, decent, etc.), but in your case - 11 people in two weeks - the owner is unlikely to agree. This is his property!
аватар camomille
you will not get anywhere from the tourist tax - you will have to pay everywhere.
the deposit will be returned - it can not be counted, and the amount per person is symbolic.
surcharge 10+14 euros for bed and cleaning, subject to a stay of 2 weeks in Austria for 100 euros per person ... these are mere pennies for this country. this is a question of krakhoborstvo ;))))

Hiding additional costs in a public offer is a scam. So, the landlord is an unpleasant person. But there are 11 of you, and there is only one Austrian ... Maybe you // in his face with a teapot // ©, and that's the end of it ...

And on the page of housing these surcharges were not indicated? Usually, immediately in the description they specify whether bed linen is included in the price or you need to pay extra for it, as well as with cleaning. A deposit is generally a frequent option.

Usually all additional costs are listed on the offer page. What is currently displayed on the page of these apartments on the Airbnb website, what are the conditions?
аватар marchenko49
Don't even think about it - give up. I have been booking accommodation on Airbnb for many years, I have never encountered this. The accommodation page indicates the cost of nights, Airbnb services and cleaning (sometimes without cleaning, but it means that it is already included in the price of the night). Regarding the deposit - you will not, upon arrival at the apartment, check the serviceability of plumbing and everything else. And then you can be billed allegedly for something faulty and the deposit will not be returned. And you will prove that it was not you who broke it. In any case, people write about such cases. And in general, an additional voucher is a blatant fraud and a money scam.
аватар zhdanova10
marchenko49, and then in the "House Rules" they also add a deposit, and a surcharge for late arrival, etc.
аватар marchenko49
zhdanova10, everyone, of course, has their own experience of booking on Airbnb, but I have NEVER met additional fees. And I would also advise you to carefully read the reviews about the owner of the home.

@camomille, it's not about the amount, it's about honesty! Even with surcharges, the amount for Austria is good (for 6 nights for 11 people). But why not include cleaning in the "calculator", and the cost of the bed is not included in the rate for the number of guests? Somehow it looks like a scam.
Here is the accommodation https://www.airbnb.ru/rooms/36787899 . Try to find information about surcharges there!
By the way, https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/251/what-if-a-host-asks-for-more-money?locale=en&_set_bev_ on_new_domain=1583572602_YIbEhntlaBCSHkke says:
If a host asks you for more money than what you paid on the site and the extra charge wasn’t stated in the listing or in the message thread, you can dispute the charges in the Resolution Center. Never pay a host directly for these charges.
@marchenko49, I have seen cleaning and tax surcharges when booking through Booking.com. By the way, also in Austria. But I haven't paid separately for a bed yet! I wrote to the host, but the host, apparently, is freezing and waiting for what I will do.
аватар zhdanova10
Andrey, go to House Rules and open Additional Rules. Everything will open at once.
I always do this)))
аватар marchenko49
Andrei, I looked at the rules of the house, all the additional payments are really indicated there. This is too brazen! It seems that you will have to pay for someone else. It is strange that there is no payment for Airbnb services in the calculator, there is always one. Don't bother and look elsewhere.
Regarding the payment for linen - when booking in Istanbul on Booking, in the description of the room it was indicated that linen is for an additional fee. Contacted the owner, confirmed that linen is included in the price.

In Sicily, when booking a villa, it was indicated that you have to pay for bed linen. Being homely, on the first day I went and bought 4 sets of initially expensive, designer underwear at a severe sale.
But that was one time.
In your case, the markup is already 35% of the original cost. Reminds the hotel "Economic", where Dunno and Kozlik spent the night.
аватар zhdanova10
Hostels of Scandinavians most often ask for a bed fee. Sometimes it makes sense to take your bed (it seems the gistalker wrote about this). You always have to clarify. For this, there is the address of the owner or hotel.
Sometimes under the bed means towels or bathrobes.

I came across this on Booking. This is common in Krakow, for some reason, the same conditions were also encountered in Rome and even in Paris. I think this is a scam on the part of the landlord.
Since then, I always carefully read all the "additional conditions". Where the "cleaning fee" is indicated - I filter out nafig.
And the city tax, the deposit - yes, this is a normal practice.
аватар xeops
I canceled that place.
I communicate with others, these have their own jokes - additional payment for electricity! Attached the message :-)
аватар Kolia_oro.egor
Here, be careful. My good friends rented a cheap house in the northwest of Italy. Early winter. They knew about this surcharge. But like all Soviet people, when the room got hot, they opened the windows. As a result, they paid about 1000 E for the electric heating of the house in 10 days. But it should not have been so. Reduce the temperature, put on jumpers, and put on a nightcap at night. So, watch out!
аватар ollennka
Come on, this airbnb, why does booking not suit you? There are also plenty of apartments and villas, and the final price always shines (well, except for the tourist tax in rare cases).
Don't think of it as advertising. It’s just that I’ve heard so many bad reviews about this BENB that you don’t need this happiness for nothing.
аватар camomille
xeops, I completely agree with you. this kind of behavior sounds like a scam.
I came across paid linen on Booking. We were looking for an option not to sit at the airport for 6 hours. I wanted to find something cheap and the requirements were minimal (forging + bath). the cheapest option cost a penny, but it was written there in small text - additional costs are possible, but which ones were not indicated. then it turned out that the additional costs included linen, towels and something else, I don’t remember. As a result, I ran up an amount 2 times more than it was originally stated.

about cleaning, bedding and a deposit, the conditions / rules of the house should be indicated - in general, you need to read everything carefully. If you have not indicated, you must complain, if you have indicated, then everything is fair. Taxes - there are no options, they have to be paid
аватар xeops
On AirBNB, the additional terms are well hidden. Why not include bedding and electricity in the basic rate per night and per person? Why not designate the tax as it is visible on Booking? Yes, formally everything is fair - all surcharges are indicated in small print behind the link "full conditions" under the heading "additional". But in reality, this is cunning, and I will fight it to the best of my ability.
аватар shmoel
We, too, at Booking recently, have repeatedly encountered all sorts of hidden payments that are difficult to see: deposits, cleaning, withdrawing money for accommodation immediately upon booking, although it is written everywhere that you don’t have to pay until such and such, etc.. It was in both Austria and Spain. This is really always annoying and looks very much like a petty, and not very, scam, because. surcharges are hefty. (This is also as an answer to ollennka.)
аватар xeops
By the way, as a result, everything, of course, was canceled. Airbnb got everything back except their commission. The commission was deposited into the account in the system. A very wise decision, especially if we all die anyway :-)
