I want to share my impressions of my 31st holiday in Egypt. Rested in Marsa Alam at the Shoni Bay 4* hotel for 7 nights, all inclusive. She chose a hotel with a beautiful reef and intelligent guests.
Departure from Warsaw. I traveled almost 15 hours from Sumy to Lviv by train, then another 10 hours to Warsaw by bus. We were lucky at the border, we passed in 2 hours. It's hard, but it's worth it. I stayed overnight in Warsaw in a hotel near the airport. Departure at 16:00. We flew on Ukrainian airlines with our Ukrainian crew, a very pleasant flight to Mars Alam.
The transfer to the hotel takes about 20 minutes. I arrived at the hotel at 12 o'clock at night. We were met at the reception by very nice guys, we were checked in right away. An incredibly pleasant surprise awaited me in the room in the form of sandwiches and fruit. Number 105 on the first floor in the "relax" zone.
The room is large and clean, a large bed, a sofa, a wardrobe with a mirror, a safe, a refrigerator, a TV, air conditioning, a table, a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar. The bathroom has a shower cabin. There is a small hairdryer. The equipment is not new, but everything works. A small bottle of water was brought daily. If there is not enough water, you can either buy it or pour it from a cooler into a bottle in bars. There is only liquid soap in the bathroom, take shampoos and cream with you, because everything is very expensive in the hotel shops. Light insulation and sound insulation were normal, you could sleep well. The best part of the room is its own terrace with an incredible view of the sea: sunrises and sunsets are incredible. There are 2 chairs, a table and a dryer on the terrace. A few meters from the terrace door there are deckchairs with windbreaks. I walked about 25 meters from my room to my sunbed. Daily cleaning was ok, thank you.
The territory of the hotel is small, compact, but very green and clean.
The hotel is conventionally divided into an active zone and a rest zone. Both areas have pools and bars. I will not tell you anything about the water in the pools, because the pools did not interest me.
I really liked the idea of dividing the hotel into 2 zones: animation was working in the active zone, very loud music was playing almost all the time, there were a lot of sunbeds, and there were also a lot of people.
The "Relax" zone started from my room, there were very few people. The sunbeds were in one row, there was a lot of free space. I was very comfortable.
The hotel has an atypical architecture for Egypt. The style of the main building is more reminiscent of European. At night, the grounds and buildings look very beautiful.
Food. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel: one in the main building, one on the beach (it also works a la carte in the evening). That's what I didn't like in the hotel - food. For people who can only eat pasta every day, it will be fine, but for those who like a varied menu, they will not like it.
In the main restaurant, the choice of vegetables, side dishes of fish and meat is very small. Unfortunately, not everything was tasty: the meat was very tough, and the fish was dry and bony. But still you will not be hungry. The tastiest for me were eggplants and several times I had baked tuna. There was also fresh fruit. The restaurant has a medium hall and a terrace outside. Wine for lunch and dinner of normal quality.
Lunch at the restaurant on the beach is even less varied: pizza, pasta and vegetables. No meat or fish. But the sea view is beautiful. It's good that food is not a priority for me.
Had dinner 1 time according to the menu. I was a little surprised by this concept. First you choose raw seafood, it is cooked and served with fries, then the bill is brought. There are also chopped vegetables. There are no ready-made interesting salads. You can go for variety.
There are three all-inclusive bars: there is a main bar on the second floor and 2 bars on the beach (in the active and relaxation zones).
The bars have standard Egyptian soft and alcoholic drinks. The quality of drinks is normal, the service is good. I only drank beer (from Stela bottles).
Service is a strong point of the hotel. Almost all the staff are very attentive and polite. Service is not intrusive and with a smile. Well done Thanks to the excellent service, I didn't want to pay attention to some minor problems. I want to sincerely thank you!!!!
I especially liked the reception staff. Always very friendly, polite and polite. From the first to the last day of my stay at the hotel, they instantly helped solve any household problems. They are probably the best reception staff I have seen in 31 vacations in Egypt. Thank you!!!
Animation in the hotel is Italian, very active and fun. I really enjoyed their evening shows and contests. During the day, the animation team also actively entertains guests.
But there was one significant drawback: the music was so loud that it could be heard even in the "relax" zone, and in the bar of the "active" zone, the guests could not hear each other.
The beach is clean and large, there is enough space for everyone. In the "relax" zone, the sunbeds are generally in one row. Towels are given on the beach in exchange for cards.
We were very lucky with the weather, it was warm.
I really liked Shawnee Bay. Entrance to the sea through a sandy bay, very comfortable. Further, the bay is divided into a northern and a southern wall.
I especially liked the northern part. The coral is alive and very bright. The wall is formed by a huge number of coral species, the palette and architecture is incredible. The specificity of this particular reef is that there are not many large fish, but there are thousands of small bright anthias, dascils and chromis in each area. A lot of butterflies, parrots, groupers, arotrons, hailins, flutes. There were some big Aleuters posing for the camera. There were huge tunas.
A large number of shoals of mackerel hunting is simply captivating. When evening begins, many large and beautiful lionfish appear. The sea is like a luxurious aquarium. Each patch of coral is unique. You can swim for hours, admire the boundless sea and it will not bore you.

Behind the territory of the hotel is only desert. The nearest hotel is several kilometers away. You can take a taxi to Port Ghalib, it is not far.
Although the hotel has a few small flaws in my opinion, thanks to the excellent service, fun entertainment, fabulous scenery, incredible sea, I had a wonderful vacation. The hotel left a very positive impression. I would like to come back here again.

No shampoo or shower gel provided. We secured ourselves and took everything with us. The balconies or terrace are very large - great sea view! The food is monotonous. Very tasty melon. Drinking water is scarce. It is not always allowed to pour into bottles. "Jupi" is very much diluted with water. Alcohol is poured in "beaker" doses! Jacuzzi in a semi-disassembled state. We were told there is a fitness center, but we did not find it for 10 days. There is no sauna there either! Massage was offered to us for $50. We went to a nearby hotel for $15. If you are going to this hotel, take a pack of tissues with you. In the dining room (it's hard to call it a restaurant), napkins can simply not be found. Until 16 pm, before sunset you are on the beach, and later there is absolutely nothing to do. Thanks to our girls animators, they entertained as best they could. We went with a specific purpose - to swim and sunbathe. And we succeeded. Therefore, we eventually turned a blind eye to all these minor misunderstandings. The sea here is just GORGEOUS!! !

But there are many swings for children of different ages, there is a trampoline! Therefore, only the sea will save, compared to Turkey (tivoli resort 5 *) heaven and earth!

At night, of course, you can’t climb into the sea, it’s just dangerous, and during the day, swim in a mask, i. e. soaring over the coral is a pleasure, but it is better to do it in the morning, with the tide, the water loses its transparency somewhat.

The first days I sobbed all the time, but still I swam, sunbathed, etc. Well, of course there are some shortcomings that I would try to correct if I were the manager of this hotel. Definitely not a luxury hotel. But!!! ! For me, this is the best hotel I have ever been to.
1. Everything is very close, and I love this. Hotels with a huge territory are not my hotels (here, of course, to each his own). And so - we really lived in a well-located room - everything is in a minute !!! ! of walking. Room, immediately near the restaurant, right there is a swimming pool, a children's room and the sea. Well, I love it, that's how I love it. I do not like many pools, anyway I always choose only one and swim in it. Here there are 2 + children, although as for me there could be 1.
2. This is the first hotel where they allowed swimming in the pool at night. The water is always warm. Warmer than 5 stars in August, when we rested 2 years ago. Maybe the weather, I don't know, but warm. Yes, in Turkey it was warmer in the pool, but here it is also quite good.
3 Nutrition - you will not be hungry for sure. The assortment is very small, but quite tasty. Especially the fish! And cheese in the morning. It really had the best cheese, fish and bottled beer in all my visits to this country. There are no olives. Strange, but true. Dinner by the pool is just amazing. At first, it’s true that everyone is standing in line and fighting for salads or something else, as if they haven’t eaten forever. For some reason, it just happens that everyone is going to dinner at the same time. It was funny to us, we looked at the queue, and then calmly took as much as we wanted. And any hotel food is fed up for 7-10 days. Although on the first day at home I really wanted fish...
4. The staff is very nice. True, I heard that it is constantly changing, but we had a very normal one. No problem. The shower, safe, TV worked. In short, everything worked perfectly.
5. And most importantly - the sea. It's simple!!! ! PARADISE!!! ! I swam with dolphins, rode a turtle, saw a sea of fish, warm water, sand. . . That, for which, personally, it is worth living for me (of course, not only for that). Plus. It so happened that I was scuba diving for the first time. And I fell in love with the sea forever. . . Even more.
6. Good company. We met many people with whom we spent many pleasant moments. Therefore, it is even difficult for me to think about the shortcomings now. Towels - shaft, room - huge, all with sea views. And yes, there was no shampoo. But personally for myself, I can not call it a disadvantage. I'm not going to Egypt for him!! ! No, I found one. There is no animation (although it is to me insofar as), and therefore there was no mini-disco. Yes this is bad. But my children had a great rest, and they danced even without animators.
When I got home, an even more difficult situation awaited me. But it's all nonsense. I understood a lot, overestimated and looked at some and some completely different eyes. Now I don't remember my tears. This trip and this particular hotel will forever remain a VERY bright and memorable event in my life. And even though there was no white wine (I don’t remember exactly if there was), but there was real life!! ! And if I could turn back time, I would do the same. I would go to Egypt, and I would go to this hotel. And I will definitely go there again!
P. S. But if you are a party-goer, not a diver - you are not here!! ! If you are afraid of moray eels, but prefer a lot of pools, some entertainment - you are not here. Here beyond the sea, tranquility and a sip of eternity.

We went on vacation with my daughter on last-minute trips. Chose another hotel online. When I came for a ticket, there were no tickets to that hotel. Suggested Shoni Bay. Very cheap. Paid. Came to work, read the reviews and was upset. So now I'll try to be objective. We went from Pegasus. No complaints about them.
