Help me choose a hotel - Shams or Marina Port Ghalib
Hello! Please help me choose a hotel in Marsa Alam. Budget up to 1500 dollars for two for 10 nights. I choose between Shams Alam and Marina Lodge Port Ghalib. In the first place is the beauty of the sea and reefs. I tend to shamsu more, although it is more expensive, but according to reviews, the coral is more beautiful there. Marina attracts the opportunity to take a walk outside the hotel in the evening, and shams, as I understand it, is located in the middle of the desert.
Help me choose please. Maybe someone was in these 2 hotels where you liked the sea more? Or maybe there are other options that fit into my budget with a beautiful reef.

If the priority is the beauty of the sea - consider The Three Corners Equinox Beach Resort 4 *. It is more expensive than Marina Lodge, but cheaper than Shams Alam. Advantage - located near the bay of Abu Dabab (15 minutes walk). There are excursions from all over Mars, and you will go there for free, and it is guaranteed to swim with turtles every day. Yes, and the hotel itself has a good house reef, entry into the sea both along the pier and from the shore. Compared to Marina Lodge, Equinox wins. The advantage of the Marina is its low price, near Port Ghalib and not far from Marsa Mubarak Bay, where you can see the dugong. But there is no guarantee that you will see it. I haven't been to Shams Alam, I can't say anything.

They are all different types of recreation.
The question here is how you are going to spend the day and how you swim.
From Marina Lodge you can walk to Mubarak Bay. Not close. Probably about an hour.
But on the other hand, there are turtles right next to the shore and it’s quite possible to see a dugong if you go to the bay every day in the afternoon and stay there until the evening.
Near - this is when you are still standing on your feet and not swimming - and next to you is a turtle (or dugong).
In general, you will have to walk far 2 times a day and live in the bay. There is no civilization there.
There is civilization in abu dababa. But you have to swim for turtles. They are further there than in Mubarak.
there is also a dugong in abu dabab. But less often than in Mubarak and further in the bay.
I don't know about shams.

Debatable.
I had the opposite. When I went to the bay of Abu Dabab, I always saw turtles. They tend to hang out on the right side of the bay.
For four visits to Marsa Bay, Mubarak once saw as many as five turtles, the rest of the times - not a single one. The dugong has never been caught. Some see it as early as the 4th race, and some come across right away. So my fellow travelers (a guy with a girl) saw him on their second visit from the shore. Well, immediately into the water and swam with him. Lucky.
True, I swim without fanaticism: an hour is enough for me. Well, if, as you write, you literally live in a bay, then the alignment is different.
Even in the bay of Abu Dabab, there are excellent reefs and a wide variety of fish, and in Marsa Mubarak there are small coral islands along the edges of the bay (you cannot compare with Abu Dabab).
Well, it’s not about an hour to go (this is if you walk very slowly). It took me 25-30 minutes.
This was my opinion after comparing holidays in these two hotels.
As you can see, everything is subjective.

Shams alam also has its own bay with turtles, and of course, if you're lucky with the dugong, it's right on the hotel's beach. It's a plus that you don't have to go far.

I chose a hotel in Marsa Alam for a long time, I also considered the Marina, but there is no beach there as such .., well .. I don’t really like that .. Hotel Braika Royal .. answered all my requirements --- beautiful green. in the bay!!! which is very important, a lot of fish, turtles and rarely dugong, there is an entrance to the sea from the shore and a pontoon! food service is also good. next to another hotel Braika Beach ... that is, where to walk, evening animation, etc.

I also once rested in Break, though Break Bay, Royal was just being built then. I also really liked it (it was my first trip to Egypt).

For me - definitely Shams. Although each has its own advantages and disadvantages. It’s an hour and a half to go to Shams, but turtles are in the bay every day, I’m already silent about the rest of the living creatures. I like to get out of the room and immediately into the sea - this is Shams. From any room to the sea 20 m. And in Shams there is a gentle sandy entry and a pontoon. In the Marina, you will walk to the beach in the scorching sun for 10 minutes. For me, this is an immediate rejection of the hotel. And how Andrei went to Mubarak in the heat - zhah :-) But in the Marina there is a port with entertainment nearby. Both hotels are homelike.
That is, in terms of living creatures, reefs and convenience - Shams, but without entertainment
