Everything in the hotel corresponds to the photos on the Internet, the neighbors are absolutely inaudible. We did not see cockroaches and dirt in the rooms and in the hotel. Apartments are being cleaned. I liked the work of the guides, especially our Nikita. A very positive and sympathetic person, than he can, will help in organizing your best holiday. Tours organized official and unofficial. Showed the most beautiful places of the island. There are no problems with the products. Nearby there are a couple of shops where you can find everything. We bought food in Mercadona, the store is 5 minutes away by taxi. The beach is excellent, protected by an artificial pier. Therefore, even with strong excitement, you can swim, even despite the red flag. The weather in this city is very even and warm, mostly +25 in the ocean, the water is also warm and you can safely swim, despite information from the Internet. Transfer from the airport on arrival and back is well established. Next time we plan to rent a car and drive around the island ourselves. Next winter, if possible, we will definitely fly to this island again to the El Beril hotel. I recommend visiting this island at least once.

There are no problems with the products. Nearby there are a couple of shops where you can find everything. And we made purchases in Margadon - a supermarket 5 minutes by taxi from the hotel. The prices are quite democratic. Very cheap and good wine and beer. Lots of fresh seafood. Came off on king prawns for a whole year. The beach is excellent, protected by an artificial pier. Therefore, even with strong excitement, you can swim, even despite the red flag (ban on swimming). The rest were left for next time. By the way, next time we will definitely rent a car and drive around the island ourselves. This is both more interesting and cheaper at some points of official excursions. We had an excellent vacation. If it works out, then for the next spring break we will definitely fly to Tenerife. I read a review about the Altamira hotel amandina dated September 28.2010 and remembered my trip with my family to this hotel in July 2011.
All the negative points that amandina writes about are true. For my part, I can note the dirt in the hotel, the insects in the room, the poor work of the reception, tour operator and guides.
A comment on amandina's review dated September 28.2010, written by a certain michalinasv, apparently, was written by a representative of the tour operator.
Cockroaches (namely cockroaches, not palm bugs) were found in the room on the very first night in the bathroom and in the kitchen. I contacted the front desk about this. After a while, a hotel employee came and handed me a can of roach spray. Like "saving the drowning is the work of the drowning themselves. " Leaving for the beach, they treated the bathroom and kitchen corner with this poison. Cockroaches from this did not become less.
In addition, with their excrement (which, by the way, is not washed off), these vile insects have ruined our light-colored clothes. After talking with our compatriots who were vacationing at the Altamira Hotel, it turned out that cockroaches live not only in our room.
It should be noted the unsatisfactory work of the reception at the Altamira Hotel. Here are just two examples. By the way, they can be confirmed by 80-100% of tourists who spent the night at the hotel from 06 to 19 July 2011.
Somewhere in the second hour of the night, when the whole hotel was sleeping peacefully, we were awakened by the wild cries of a drunken company who had an orgy in the hotel pool. Going out onto the balcony, I see how the lights come on in the hotel rooms, and the awakened tourists go out onto the balconies to see what's the matter. 10.20 minutes pass. Tellingly, none of the hotel employees even try to clean up the mess. I'm going to the reception. The night porter, a young man, pretends not to understand the Russian language (although there are 20 percent of tourists from the Russian Federation in the hotel).
Then I have to explain to him in English that:
1 - According to the rules of conduct for tourists at the Altamira Hotel, posted at the reception and by the pool, it is prohibited to use the pool from 19:00 to 08:00;
2 - If he does not immediately restore order, I will be forced to call the police and write a complaint about the Altamira Hotel and about him personally in the "green leaf" (a book of complaints that everyone here respects very much);
3 - That as a result he risks joining the large army of Spanish unemployed.
During my monologue, the expression on the porter's face changed from sleepy-indifferent to frightened-concerned. After 10 minutes, order was restored, and the long-awaited silence reigned in the hotel. In total, tourists were kept awake for at least 30 minutes.
The second incident happened a few days after the first. Around 2 am, the tourists were awakened by the screeching of a fire alarm. 10.20 minutes pass, the alarm chirps so that at least plug your ears
. I go back to reception. Literally 10 meters before it, I see broken glass above the fire alarm button. At the reception - a crowd of awakened tourists, 50-70 people. It turns out that there is no fire. I ask why then they will not turn off the fire alarm siren. They tell me that, allegedly, they are waiting for the fire alarm master.
At this time, the police arrive at the hotel. The porter (already different) trots up to the officer and says something to him in Spanish. Judging by the sluggish reaction of the policeman, he hangs noodles on his ears. I approached the officer and told him in English that someone, probably out of hooligan motives, broke the glass that covered the fire alarm button and turned it on. The officer perked up and asked me to show him the "crime scene". We go with him to the hotel. Behind the porter wanders dejectedly.
And then the most interesting thing happens.
The policeman examined the button and forced the receptionist to press it (after which the alarm turned off). Why couldn't this be done before? In total, the alarm screamed for 40 minutes.
Thus, out of 14 nights at the Altamira Hotel, we (and not only us) managed to sleep normally only 12.
Our tour operator was World Traveler. About guides. They are only interested in two things: exorbitant prices to sell you the maximum number of excursions and timeshare. And the rest of the tourist's problems are his personal problems. According to average estimates, a family of 3 overpays its operator 200-300 euros for an average package of excursions if they purchase from their operator, and not on the open market.
A little positivity. We liked the island of Tenerife. It's worth going there. But it is better to stay in another hotel and choose another tour operator.
If you prefer bus tours, I can recommend a sightseeing tour, on the Teide and in Loro Park.
In addition, I really liked the jet ski trip to Los Gigantes. There are 3 options, different in duration and route, somewhere from 1 to 3 hours. For such a trip, it is better to choose a day when there are no big waves and strong winds in the ocean. It is also worth clarifying in advance that there are 2 people in the escort motor boat: the helmsman and the photographer. In our case, there was one that combined these functions. As a result, the quality of photographs leaves much to be desired.

We were a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children). The meeting and accommodation went just fine. We are in great clubs. At first I was afraid of what to cook myself, but then I even liked it. In "Merkadona" you could buy everything and much cheaper than in Russia. Children are delighted with the ocean and excursions.
