Paris in winter - is it worth it?
Hello. We want to go somewhere in Europe in the winter - the first half of January. Interested in the experience of people who have visited Paris in winter. How pleasant is it to walk there at this time? It probably makes no sense to meddle in a trip to the castles of the Loire in winter? I don't want to be stuck in museums.

My kids have been flying on their honeymoon since December 10th two years ago. There was snow in Paris. Airports were closed, but by some miracle, the children managed to do it everywhere. They were very pleased. Paris was already full of Christmas lights.

Cold, but nice! Go!

Well, it's Christmas sale time. It’s the most :-) So that between museums you can while away the time in the same Lafayette gallery :-)

Winter architectural photos - this is it! Very nice (in good weather, of course), the trees do not interfere. The downside is that the parks are standing, but in winter this is not.
I have a brochure on the castles of the Loire somewhere and a lot of winter photos - fabulously beautiful!

We went to Paris and surroundings from January 1 to 10 - we liked it very much.
There are few people - we went around all the attractions in Disneyland in a day.
Loire castles - in one of the castles we had 4 people for the whole castle!!!!
Despite the fact that the general temperature is about 15 degrees - green grass, flowers bloom. A light short coat was enough.
My report is here http://blogs.turpravda.com/astashov/64243.html

I went to Paris a couple of times in the winter (the beginning of the trip fell on our Old New Year) - the weather does not bother me at all, for a three-week stay, t fell to zero (this is at the beginning) and rose to +12. It may be light snow, or it may be pouring rain, or it may be sunny all day. We went with a friend in short fur coats (when it was near zero, the breeze from the Seine was still unpleasant), we took a light coat or jacket with us (at t from +5 and above). You can buy there too - this is the time of Christmas discounts, and the start of sales starts with discounts of -10-20%, next week discounts increase to -35-50%, by the third week up to -75%, in some stores up to the complete elimination of collections -90% (it happens). Most of all I liked shopping in the shopping center of the business district La Defense. I won’t tell you about the castles of the Loire - I didn’t have to visit, but a trip to Versailles on one of the rainy days ruined my mood - we got wet to the skin, another time, in the same bad weather, we went to ride a steamboat on the Seine - there was also little pleasant, and the pictures turned out not really... So plan your sightseeing according to the weather - on such days it is better to recover from museums or shopping.

..... From the memorable - I was pleased with the ice rink in front of the Paris City Hall, roasted chestnuts (January is one of the seasons for their sale), touching flowers, powdered with snow, evening illumination on the Champs Elysees - very beautiful (!), A relatively small number of tourists in places their usual accumulation (Louvre, Notre Dame de Paris, Musee d'Orsay, Eiffel Tower, etc.), and yet climate change - European winter is not as feisty as in Russia!

Was in Paris for Christmas. Great mild winter weather. The only thing is that the park at Versailles certainly cannot be magnificent in spring or summer. But even in winter, Paris is beautiful.

Paris is good at any time of the year, we were in spring, summer, autumn, now we plan to go this year in December, I think it will be great, because the whole city is already decorated for Christmas and shines with New Year's lights, as well as celebrate your birthday there.
