advised to go to Greece no earlier than September 10. This is not possible. Please advise from what date you can take a child 4 years old. Wishes - there is still no sweltering heat and the sea has already warmed up.

Then the beginning of summer, until the end of May, even in the first half of June. But the sea warms up more slowly than the air, and also cools down more slowly, which is why most people recommend autumn for a seaside holiday. This also applies to our Black Sea, remember that it was always best to relax in September - the velvet season?

If you have the opportunity to go earlier - go for sure. Only not to the islands but to mainland Greece. It is a little cooler there and the sea is warm.

last year we went to Chalkidiki from June 02, the weather was great, but it was already hot and the sea had warmed up by June 04.

Viltis, let me disagree with you that it is hotter on the islands, on small islands in the northern part of Greece (Thassos, Samothraki, Limnos ...) it is cooler than on the mainland.

litvinova, Quite possibly :-) The further north the cooler :-)

Just like that and "not before"? This time is good and comfortable, but whatever one may say, the weather is no longer predictable. We had a terrible heat at that time in Athens, and when we arrived in Halkidiki, we got 2 cool moderately sunny days out of 7 days, 2 windy days with rains, and the rest without sun at all, thanks for no rains. I don't care, for example, the sun, but almost no one went swimming in those days! Just us))) And the water seems to be warm and the air, but the shadow all the time, wind and waves.
I read in the reviews that in even earlier years in September it rained without stopping, like from the middle of September, anything can happen! Moreover, in some year September was with showers, and then in the second half of October it was hot again and people were swimming almost at the end of November (our Greeks are in shock ;-)

That's right, I support it. We were in Crete from mid-September to the end of September. The weather is very different. There were days when it was simply impossible to swim: the waves were 3-4 meters. Now the heat is +35, then a lingering rain like in autumn.
