This summer my husband and I rested at the Hersonissos Maris hotel. The hotel has a very convenient location. It is located 15 minutes walk from Hersonissos. We are in this hotel for the second time. In the hotel itself, the infrastructure and interior are at a good level. There are indoor and outdoor pools. Gym, tennis court, sauna, massage, billiards, table tennis, fitness center, Turkish bath, hot tub, jacuzzi - can be used for an additional fee. There is equipment for water sports. We stayed in a room with a sea view. The room is equipped with air conditioning, refrigerator, TV with satellite channels. Some rooms have access to a shared pool. There is a snack bar by the sea. They offer drinks and light meals. The type of food we had was HB and that was more than enough for us. Breakfast and dinner buffet style. The choice is small, but varied, the cuisine is delicious. If necessary, we bought lunch additionally at the hotel. Sometimes we went out into the city itself and dined in local taverns. For the cost, it was more economical to order lunch at the hotel. We rested without children, but this hotel is also suitable for families with children. There is an equipped children's pool and a playground. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Communication is best in the lobby. The hotel has its own beach. The place is small but quite comfortable. At the entrance to the sea there are plates and stones - this is not very comfortable, so I recommend using special shoes for swimming for convenience and safety. We are lovers of outdoor activities, and we love to discover new places and get vivid impressions. Last year we went to the Palace of Knossos and the cave of Zeus. We were very satisfied and I especially want to note the work of the tour guides - they are real professionals! This time we decided to go to the island of Spinalonga. We left for an excursion in the morning, the first stop was in the Selinari gorge, where the monastery of St. George is located. We are not very religious people, but we liked it. Fresh air, beautiful nature, interesting history. Then we went to the port of Agios Nikolaus, where we boarded a ship and went to the island of Spinalonga. We sailed for a short time, about 50 minutes it took our sea voyage along Mirabello Bay. Spinalonga Island is a fortress island, preserved in excellent condition. A small fortress was built by the Greeks as a defensive structure, then the Venetians strengthened and expanded. I am very grateful to the guide Sofia for the most interesting story about the island! The excursion program included lunch in the village of Elounda, where we had lunch in a sea tavern. After lunch we returned to Agios Nikolaus, where the guide told about the most interesting places. We sunbathed on the beach (very well equipped), walked around the city. On the way to the hotel we made a stop at the oil mill. We learned the process of production of olive oil and products based on it. It was possible to taste the products that are produced at the factory. We love olive oil very much and, of course, did not miss the opportunity to purchase natural oil directly from the production factory. There it is sold in very convenient metal packages, the prices are quite reasonable. We returned home for dinner. . The tour went great! Guide Sophia is a real professional!
