Is it worth it to go with a baby (10 months) to Greece?
We are planning to travel in late September/early October 2016. The baby will be 11 months old. Choose a hotel or private apartments? Should I choose the islands or the mainland? We love it so that there is a lot of greenery and that there is something to see.

Do you need to improve your child's health or "so that there is something to see"? With a child of this age, in my opinion, you can travel, firstly, if you have a good travel experience; secondly, you need to go to the place that is either recommended by reliable people who understand what the age of 11 months is, or when you know where you are going. That is, if he himself "with intelligence" was in this place. With young children, adventurism is not necessary. Therefore, the option "we love so that ..." does not work for a couple of years. Look for an option near the airport and from Thessaloniki if you are flying through this port. For example, Nea-Kallikratia, but there is only Aegean Blue. It's clean there. And this is important to you.

I support the choice of the hotel, because I was there, I liked the food and the attitude of the staff.

you need to sit at home with such babies and not drive cockroaches around Greek guests

I would recommend apartments. By 11 months, the baby may be partially, or completely switched to "canned" food. Or even cereal. All this can be taken with you. I would not risk feeding something unfamiliar. The apartments also have a fridge and stovetop. In Greece, there are hotels with a kitchen.
Here, let's say Admiral Argassi in Zakynthos is a full-fledged hotel, but with a kitchen. But Alykes Park (ibid.) is an apartment. It was there that I met mothers with change. This is a particularly good beach for babies. And what's good - the premises are one-story and the stroller can stand right next to the balcony.
Here. Maybe not quite a review sharpened in the direction of rest with babies, but still.

Good advice for boys, damn it. As for me, postpone the rest until the sanity of the child, that is, up to 3 years. This is from my experience. You can't call it rest until the age of 3. Or take a babysitter. Husband mostly in bars

Is it worth going so far for this?

From the experience of a mother dragging her children along resorts, albeit Turkish-Egyptian, from the age of 5 months, they got to Greece already at a sane age - 5 and 4 years ... It doesn’t matter where to go, even to Antarctica, but You must understand that a vacation with a child is not a vacation with a beloved man. You will live according to the children's schedule - sleep, food, diapers ... And you must live together - the sea in turn, spa - in turn, eat - also in turn, sometimes (children are capricious, not everyone likes to watch this). As for "seeing", then too - one by one, or one person. Walking around the area for a couple of hours, of course, is possible. But it’s unlikely that you will be able to enjoy any masterpieces, a one-year-old child doesn’t care that you are examining something, he wants to eat, drink, pee, poop, touch everything, it is advisable to climb in, in any case, try, etc.
Recommendations for any trip with a child under 3 years old: food (cans, boxes of porridge), a kettle (if the hotel does not provide), medicines - with you

Yes, this is almost the best option. Someone wrote above about an island vacation - with such small ones it’s better not to, especially on Zakynthos. And especially now ... To be honest, until about 11-12 years old - this is no rest for parents. It is not for nothing that in some hotels children under 14 are not "invited". For those who previously traveled to Turkey with a one and a half week rest between breakfasts, lunches, dinners: those countries that are "instead" have a completely different rhythm, spirit, conditions ... But you have to feel everything for yourself.

Author, how are you with Komarovsky? If this is a reputable source for you, watch a program about vacations with babies. Briefly: one must be fully aware that for the child this is not rest and not recovery, that parents do this for themselves. It's not bad, it just is. A child so small is good where dad and mom are. And, if this is a vacation for yourself, then will it suit you to dance around the baby around the clock.
If the issue of travel is resolved for you, but only choose a country, Greece is a normal option, one of the best.

I agree that traveling with children is different from traveling without children. But you don't have to sit at home either. I would say that you can go with a baby-baby, and then with, so to speak, a sane child. Feel the difference, as they say. For 3-5 year olds, they need a lot of personal time or a nanny, they get bored in a restaurant where everyone eats, they need special menus (the same is possible in this hotel), they need to run around, and sometimes be capricious. But, in general, there are many of them and everyone runs around the restaurant and no one is outraged, the attitude towards children is very good. Screams and tears most often, as a result, will certainly feed, regardless of the desire of the baby himself (this is a sin, mainly, our compatriots). And a child up to a year old, normally, is satisfied with communicating with his parents, still sleeps a lot, eats his usual food - it is better to take it with you, of course.
аватар Turist_Rus
Please note that in Greece it is not customary to feed children of this age from jars, so it is quite difficult to buy them in a store. Either not at all, or the choice is scanty. And there are few boxes of cereals. I don’t know what my daughter didn’t like there, but she was very sorry that she didn’t bring them from Moscow.
Conclusion - it is better to bring food with you.

When boarding a plane, everyone is terrified of the neighborhood of such travelers with babies. Four hours of wild screaming of the future vacationer turns an airplane flight into hell.
Mother's hysteria with words to the stewardess - "You must have imported food and milk for children on board - bring it immediately!"
I think those who drag babies on such "vacations" associated with a great risk for their child are people who do not value their children.
аватар Galina50
And I believe that a trip with children under one year old is pure selfishness of the mother and the hatred of their neighbors.

In almost every trip abroad I meet vacationers with infants (!) Children (from 3 months). Crete is no exception. If parents have good driving skills (because of serpentines, narrow roads, steep descents), then this is a great option to get to know the mythical island (Zeus's cave, colorful beaches, monasteries, etc.). On a bus with a bunch of people and a travel schedule, it will be more difficult, in my opinion. In autumn there will be no sweltering heat, and the water in the sea (at least in September) will still be warm (in the north of the island, Hersonissos, Mali, on the other sides of the stream, the water is cooler, in my opinion). In the apartments you get tired of cooking, cleaning, this house is enough. It is more pleasant to return to a cleaned room, to an already prepared dinner. Be sure to take an electric kettle with you to warm the child's food, well, it will come in handy ourselves. Take food for the child from home (in an unfamiliar place it’s hard even to choose food for yourself, because you don’t know if you like the taste).

Dear friends, even here, when discussing such a pleasant question, and then, no, no, and some kind of intransigence, franticness and rejection of other people's opinions cut through. Give people yourself, make mistakes, enjoy, gain experiences and impressions that last a lifetime...
Someone wrote above that for a child a trip to the sea is not a recovery. Probably a lot depends on the constitution of the child, on his predispositions and individual characteristics. One thing I can say - indeed, not rest, but even danger - a short trip. With a child, you need to travel for a long time, from about 2 weeks or more. Short trips are dangerous, they "churn" the child's body, and he needs the physiotherapeutic effect of the environment from which humanity appeared: clean sea air (especially with broncho-pulmonary problems), sea water itself (universal thing). But in no case not the sun - very dangerous! Normal sea stay - then half a year and longer the normal state of the immune system. You have to travel for a long time!

Earlier, when I saw mothers with babies, I also thought - where do they drag such small children?!? With the eldest son, we first went to the sea at 2.8 pm and traveled annually, but in Ukraine, because. he has br.asthma. And then my daughter was born - and after a couple of months I dreamed of going somewhere to relax, but my husband did not support me. (For the first time we went exactly one year after her birthday in Koblevo. She was still breastfeeding, so there were no big problems with food. There was a stove for soups and others. Everything went fine, only now I am resting separately with my husband and myself with her daughter. For dad, this is not a vacation, but for mom, who does it all at home every day, but at the same time you still need to prepare not a family, and wash, stroke, and walk the child several times a day, drag the stroller up the stairs and elevators just need it.On vacation, it all happens much more pleasantly, you don’t have to think about a lot.Put the stroller in the shade and sit on your balcony, in the bar, on the beach and just relax.

In the fresh air and after bathing, children always sleep better. I know from experience that it is easier with a smaller child. When flying with my daughter in 1g. 10 m. on the plane, it was much easier for me with her - they just sat down, clung to my chest and fell asleep. But they flew already in 2 yr 7 pm - it already became more difficult. Everything became interesting to her, she couldn’t be put to sleep on the plane, she was distracted by everything. So that the child does not act up, you can distract him with your favorite toy or cartoon. (tini love for example). For trips, we specially bought an electric kettle for 0.5 liters. and we always take it with us, you can also take with you (if the child loves it) either purees or cereals. We took yogurt with us, nothing spoiled. If the mother considers it right to go on vacation, then this is the way to do it, and this will benefit not only her, but also the baby and dad.

We compared a trip "on foot" to the village of Koblevo and a 4-hour flight with a transfer to Greece))))
аватар Nusia
3018886 - You didn't read it carefully if the husband hadn't refused to fly when the child was 12 months old. - they would have flown, otherwise they had to go by train, then by minibus - and this is much longer and less comfortable. It’s easier to carry a small child in your arms or you can put it in a sling, and he won’t run far ... But I’ve already flown twice with a child to Egypt (also a flight of almost 4 hours) and when she was smaller (an infant), I was with it is easier for her. Both flights were at 4 in the morning, the regime was broken, the child was sleepy, in one hand was a daughter, in the other was a stroller, a suitcase, a bag .... everything went fine, we did not interfere with anyone on the plane, unlike other passengers who watched at 5 in the morning a movie on a tablet without headphones or those who drank whiskey and walked around and made noise for the whole salon ...

"When boarding a plane, everyone is terrified of the neighborhood of such travelers with babies. Four hours of wild screaming of a future vacationer turns an airplane flight into hell." (with)
And the screams of a drunken redneck do not turn a flight into hell, or artistic snoring?! :) In this case, for everyone's comfort, do not let mothers with children into public transport, shops and, oh, God, into trains, and in general, why are they roaming the streets with squeaking babies - they violate public order ...
For the most part, babies are naughty on takeoff (tied up, not allowed to get up, etc.) and landing (woke up). The rest of the time they either eat or sleep. This is if we are talking about children under 3 years old. Until recently, we flew 2-3 times a year, and always the same picture - by the time of climbing, all the kids calm down and sleep. Adults begin to behave loudly, almost imperceptibly, as it seems to them, packages from a dutik

I beg your pardon. Still, in essence: 1 and 3. September-early October - this is late when it comes to the northern part of Greece; more or less beachy can be in two places - in Cyprus (southern coast) and in Rhodes due to the local climate. If you don't swim or you are walruses, then everything is easier...2. you need to know the hotel or apts already at home, this is a matter of a specific and individual choice 4. you won’t be able to see it especially, unless you take a car and drive carefully. With such a child, I would not go later than September 10 ...

The question is why to go - just take a break from everyday life, get rid of winter fatigue and gain immunity for the next winter, or active travel and spectacles, or go "break away" in bars and on the dance floor? In the first case, it’s worth going for sure, in the second, I wouldn’t go, but there are people who know how and love to relax like that, and children are not a burden for them and they can create conditions. In the third case, a categorical no. The second issue is finance. If allowed, I would recommend a good hotel with great infrastructure, large areas, a close beach and other nice options. If finances are not very good, then apartments are better and, of course, a close beach, housing infrastructure (shops, cafes, etc.), as well as the ability to drive a car. Take care of baby food in advance. And the time period - I would not have gone later than September 10th. It’s not very comfortable anymore, although it doesn’t happen year after year. I didn’t see the question - teach me to go or not with a baby, so I don’t answer it.
аватар Irina0709
There is no Cyprus in Greece)) and they swim in Crete in October - the water cools slowly, northern Greece and the Ionian Islands can be viewed until mid-September.
аватар sp_kushneruk
"There is no Cyprus in Greece))" And does this prevent you from relaxing there? Especially when it is not the country that matters, but the conditions. In connection with the topikstarter’s requests, I would generally prefer Cyprus to Greece: it is noticeably warmer at the agreed time, it’s not so long to fly, it’s easier (especially with modern requirements) with a visa, or rather, a proviso, which is done in two days. There is no Cyprus in Greece NOW ... But in cultural and historical terms, even modern Cyprus is Greece. Of course, if we are not talking about the occupied northern territories. Statehood does not mean ethno-cultural and historical isolation. Exactly to the same degree of specificity that within Greece, Crete or Thasos, or Rhodes with their island specificity ...

19062005, depends on the husband. Some, on the contrary, let their wife go to the bar :)
And, seriously, if there is a financial opportunity, then a proven nanny solves absolutely all issues on vacation.
аватар 19062005
Pachok, it's not a husband, but a dream! And usually there are always a lot of young dads in the bar, and only pretty screwed up wives are allowed into the bar. A babysitter is definitely needed.
аватар sp_kushneruk
Guys, what bar?! They put the children to bed, and if they didn’t put them, then let them sit next to them with ice cream. We took a bottle of good Greek wine, cut 200-300 grams of hard Graviera ... We went out to the table on the balcony. Are you tired of each other already? Moreover, in such an atmosphere of relaxation, the sea, warmth ... And why the hell do you sit in smoke and noise? ...
