Gathered with my wife without a travel agency
My wife and I are going to Italy in late August - early September. Let's go for the first time. We are going to go savages, we want to go to Rome, Venice, Sicily, Milan for a couple of days. In total we will be up to 10 days. Interested in relaxing at sea and visiting interesting places. Where is the cheapest place to rent a house? How much money to take with you? Where is the best place to go? Where is the best place to eat? Maybe some features?

You have a very big question. You are tormented to write about each city where, how and what you can see, in Rome alone you can spend at least 4 days to get at least some idea of the city, and for 2 days you will be like a driven deer and you will not remember anything. Vryatli you will find a universal review. You just need to buy a good guide book and read everything on the Internet about each city individually. As a result, the route will still be corrected on the spot.

And how much money to take with you is generally a Filasovsky question. If you eat in a cafe, then each dish (salad, pizza, pasta) will cost 8-12 euros, depending on the city and place, a meat dish will come close to 20. A bottle of wine in a cafe conditionally starts from 25 euros and drove further and more expensive. In the same Venice, with normal nutrition, it’s generally a problem, everything is made from imported frozen food. Well, if you eat sparingly, according to the principle of sandwiches and simple pizza, then prices will fall by two. Transport is also not cheap. On the Eurostar from Rome to Venice, a ticket costs about 120 euros per person round-trip, 4.5 hours on the way. Rome - Milan one way: 1st class - 116 euros per person, 2nd class - 86 euros per person.

Minimum money. Will I fit into 2000 euros with a flight?
аватар andreyvip
I think not, it is very difficult to keep within such an amount. Only if you cut back on everything and hitchhike a bit. I think that at least 100 euros a day you need to pledge for accommodation and food. This is without a cafe, but purely economical sandwich food and simple accommodation. The most economical option to spend the night in the Hostel, if you accept this option. It will be at least 1000 already. For reference, a month ago, purely in Rome for 5 nights, a 3 * hotel cost me 500 euros without tax.
In the meantime, you do not lay out a route of movement to calculate the cost of transport is not possible at all. Well, very roughly from city to city, you can lay 80 -120 euros per person. You will have each trip by train for a couple in the region of 150-200 euros, 5 cities is, in fact, another 1000. I can’t say how much the flight will cost you.

A flight on a visare costs about 4,500 round trip for two.
аватар andreyvip
That's almost 300 euros more. If I guess correctly. A ticket for the Leonardo Express train to Rome costs 14 euros. On the metro it will be around 6 euros per person. That is, you just got to Rome and have already spent at least 1/5 of the total amount pledged for 10 days.
You have 1700 left. This is 170 per day for two and for moving, and for food, and for accommodation. A very extreme version of the trip is obtained. Surely you can live, but I’m not ready to tell you exactly how. You need to be very scrupulous in approaching both the route and accommodation.

((((Thanks for the answers. What is the best amount for the trip?
аватар andreyvip
I do not know your lifestyle, wealth and understanding of relaxation.
According to me, you need to lay down for accommodation for 10 days in the region of 800 - 1000, at least 500-600 for food, 1000 for transfers (very rough estimate), the flight you get is 300, plus an error in the calculations, so it turns out that on a similar route you need to lay in the region of 3000, and better more)

From my own experience, I can advise you not to cram more than two Italian cities into 10 days. I was in Milan and Rome, in each it took at least four days to see the most pop sights, but sometimes you also want to look at the non-pop ones.
As for the budget for meals and excursions, an average of 70-80 euros per day was enough for me. The flight between Milan and Rome Alitalia came out cheaper than the train (about 100 euros per person).

Airbnb needs to be more careful with it, indeed one of the cheapest ways to book accommodation, but there are a lot of complaints about this site.

You can save money if you buy train tickets already on the website of the Italian railway trenitaly. The difference if you buy in advance and before the trip can be many times. Seeing so many cities in 10 days is not realistic (Unless of course you do it for show!)

Sicily is very expensive
аватар Monella
it is super unreasonable to go to Italy as savages!!!! take cheap hotels in Rimini and then how will you get a visa without booking a hotel ??? you will not be given a visa to Italy without booking a hotel and round trip tickets !!! Italy is an EU country under your jurisdiction and not Crimea,,,
аватар Monella
hotels in Sicily are 50 or 70 percent more expensive than in Emilia Romagna on the Adriatic coast
аватар Monella
the price of a train ticket depends on the type of train...suburban local trains are much cheaper...

put money on a VISA card,,, in Italy, all stores accept payment with Visa-Mastercard cards ... In all resort towns and in Rome there are a lot of Romanian and Moldovan gypsies and they hunt tourists to rob on the street and in the subway and on the beach, , so hang bags around your neck and take care of your passport ... the police in Italy can’t cope with thieves, because there are more thieves than police officers --- my friend Italian policeman in Rome told me so, Romanian thieves climb into the windows of hotels and in the windows of the houses of the local Italians,,, so lower the blinds on the windows and lock them when you sleep...and close the windows before leaving the hotel,,,
аватар Monella
if you hope to sleep as savages in a tent on the street to save money, then you will be taken to the police and you will pay a large fine --- about 1000 euros

Were in Italy for 14 days, took a hotel in Rimmini. From there we traveled around the cities for 1 day, got up very early (transport runs from 5 am), returned late in the evening (trolleybuses run until 2 am). Visited Rome, Florence, Venice, San Marino, Milan. Day trip, day rest at sea. The route for each city was compiled in advance according to maps and reviews from the Internet, everything was thought out along the route and in time, we walked smartly, used transport, we managed to see everything that we planned to see with entering the cathedrals, climbing the dome, visiting palaces, etc. We took the tour from the operator, we traveled around the cities ourselves. We didn't spend more than 2000 for sure, this is not counting purchases (how to do without shopping in Italy :) !!!

Good day!
First, the question is, how important is it for you to go to Italy? I ask because I just returned from there just yesterday, and to be honest, I categorically do not recommend adequate Russian people to go there. But first things first: 1. Compared to "wild" Russia, half of Italy does not know what plastic cards are, so if you plan to accidentally drop into a provincial town, take cash. 2. Dirt, garbage and homeless people. In the center of Rome there is such dirt, which in Russia can only be found around overflowing garbage cans within a radius of half a meter. Near the coliseum lie, stand, go dirty smelly homeless people, and begging for money from TOURISTS!!!! 3. Airports treat tourists with absolutely boorish attitude! Passed through passport control in Naples, then it turns out that the plane was delayed for some time. There is not even a sandwich stand in the landing waiting area. We explain to the local employees that our flight was delayed for several hours, we need to eat, drink, let us out, the controllers categorically refused to let us go back, everyone who was contacted answered like this is not my problem, fuck off. We spent 6 hours in that shed until the shift of customs officers changed and we were released into the common room!!!

In general, the feeling is as if these Italians shit on their heads !!! I will never take them a penny again! As for summer holidays, sea and not so much, it is better to choose a more civilized country. As it was in Catalonia - heaven and earth compared to Italy !!! The sea is clean, the beaches are clean, the attitude is friendly, plastic is accepted even in a tent on the coast!!! There are many more interesting things in Barcelona, cleaner at times and all conditions for tourists! If you still fly to Italy, stock up on patience and sedatives!!! Have a nice rest.

Yes, I completely forgot, there seems to be more Russian cattle in Italy than in Russia !!! I heard swearing more often than at home!!! But they have a siesta, and if at 2 pm you have a heart attack, then the pharmacy will not help you, they have a break of 3.5 hours!!! You can breathe!

I didn’t like Rome either: crowds of people, dirty, the metro is disgusting, everything somehow works unorganized (transport, attractions, catering). But all the little things in life were more than paid for by Italian cuisine))), I have never eaten such volumes anywhere.

SW. dinzha tereshenko23, I would not want to stoop to mutual insults, especially since I personally didn’t offend you in any way))) if you judge Italy by beautiful pictures on the Internet and stories of friends, then it’s not for you to write comments here!
I don’t consider it necessary to pollute a topic that I didn’t start with mutual claims) Adios ...
