I will try to briefly describe everything that our followers will need. I was with my husband and acquaintances (also spouses) in the first decade of December 2016. It seemed like an eternity to get there. It is simply impossible to get a visa quickly. Considering that we were sitting at the tail of the plane, we ended up at the end of the queue. After standing in line for 30 minutes, we advanced only 10-12 people out of 50-60 standing. In short, if one employee didn’t like me : ) and he didn’t call me (and I followed my own) to some separate window, we would probably go to the hotel by taxi. Because our guide has been running for 1.5 hours with a sign around the airport and said that in half an hour they would have left with the rest of the tourists. So, if there is an opportunity to make a visa at home, do it! Transfer to the hotel takes 3 hours. We drove at night, so we didn’t manage to enjoy the views (unlike on the way back). We listened to the guide, but from all the information received, it took a little: reassured that black snakes are not poisonous and learned how to say "hello" in Sri Lankan - "ayubovan" with an emphasis on y. The Sri Lankans are already very friendly and smiling, and with my "ayubovan" they simply blurred into a smile and bargained more easily (although this is not their forte, they are reluctant to bargain and take off 10-20%, no more). In general, neither expensive excursions, nor all the rest of the superficial information we needed. All recognized themselves. At the airport, they changed half of the money planned for spending 148 rupees, the rest was changed in Hik-we from 146 to 150. We were settled quickly, the rooms were given nearby on the 2nd floor, there was a common terrace in front of the entrance, so we got together, bypassing the room, they even sang songs with the company from the first (99% of Russians there). In the room, the husband identified 4 minuses - poor water pressure, only 2 towels, toilet paper hangs under the left hand, and even on the back wall, well, sockets for 3 holes that require some skill or an adapter to use them. The remaining 96 are pluses! There are a lot of sockets, a normal hair dryer, a large bed, with a canopy from insects, clean linen (although they dried it right on the railing of the common terrace), the air conditioner worked fine, the fan too, there was plenty of furniture, lighting, a refrigerator, 2 glasses or glasses, two tea sets! Normal breakfasts: fried eggs or an omelet from two eggs, two thin soy spicy sausages (fried bacon once every 11 days), toast bread, butter, jam, tea, coffee (not tasty), juice like Jupi, fruits (papaya, banana , watermelon, rarely pineapple). We had enough for lunch. Four cats also met us every day, begging food from us if we brought something from the city (sometimes we took a grilled leg, mackerel, shrimp, potatoes in the tent). The staff is very friendly, sociable, speaking almost no Russian, but with an average knowledge of English and sign language, we communicated normally, even taught them new Russian words. They do not have duplicate keys, so if you want room cleaning, one sign on the door is not enough, you still need to leave the key. We left 100 rupees and sweets. The rest of the staff were treated to chocolates (they have a terrible sweet tooth), they were happy like children, especially the girl in a sari (from the reception). When we left, they were all waiting for the bus with us, waving to us for a long time with best wishes. . . The hotel itself is a 5-minute walk to the main road (via a piece of iron), parallel to the coast. Right at the crossroads, across the road, the cheapest alcohol market (bought in four places), beer 260 rupees (in others from 280 to 380), arrak 770 for 375g. The main life is to the left, to the right only the fruit and fish market, a little further 3 small supermarkets. The main road for us, I repeat, to the left, to the south. There are all restaurants (tour agencies too), we were in many, but most of all we liked the Getfresh restaurant. It is located at the beginning of the intersection with a small street, on the second floor, directly opposite the Dolphin restaurant (dolphin), we were there too, but we did not like either the prices or the service, despite the ocean view! If you want a view, then you need to walk another 400-500 meters to the inconspicuous sign of the J. L. H restaurant. They have the cheapest beer, a huge selection of dishes, but we liked the portions and waiters at Getfresh better, and go there closer. And if you go straight from the beach, then without washing yourself from the salt, it’s impossible to walk far at all! And a little further a large two-story supermarket. We had no problems with excursions, because there are four of us, so it’s better to look for a mate in a hotel, then it’s much cheaper. Do not be fooled right away, find out the price, what is included in the price, say what you think and go to other tents, then negotiate. We drove from Suraka, where a local girl who speaks good Russian is located between two of the same points, on the same side as Getfresh (not far from it). A two-day trip cost us $150, when in other places they offered $180 and more, and we went to Laguna for $15 in an air-conditioned minivan, and people went for $30 in a tuk-tuk! Only here you can see turtles and swim with a mask and fins right on the beach, where everyone swims. In general, I liked everything, people who have not been to Asia, after Europe, it will seem like a backwater. There are no clubs or discos! But you will definitely get sun, relaxation and a great mood!
