At the entrance to Polonnaruwa, I started looking at affordable hotels, but, like in Annuradhapura, the city does not shine with options for spending the night. The best rated hotel (Chaaya Ruins) sold out. But the Russians do not give up, and I decided to call the hotel I liked directly. That evening, the hotel was celebrating a wedding, so everything was sold out, but fortunately, they had one room that I booked by phone.
The hotel is very good: cleanliness, silence, spacious rooms, very nice staff, and most importantly - they cook awesome in the restaurant. Dinner was amazing (alcohol, however, in principle there is no menu).
The location regarding the sights is also convenient, in the morning I walked to the archaeological museum on foot, and the territory of the ancient city already begins from the museum, which also makes no sense to travel by transport, you need to see everything on foot.
In general, you will be in Polonnaruwa, check in at the Ruins Chaaya Hotel.
