My husband and I also thought so last year, but after calculating the cost of a trip for three days, we decided that it was too expensive. The flight is cheap, but then the question arose - where to live. If you book a decent hotel on the atolls, then you get a lot of extra costs - a transfer there from Male (and this is a decent amount for two), plus two nights there at the hotel, plus food, excursions. Then they thought of staying in Male, but it turned out that the Muslim population lives there, there is not even a beach where Europeans can swim - as we were told, the locals love to break glass and mix it with sand on the beach because of their dislike for tourists. In general, we decided that the flies are separate, and the cutlets are separate, we will go to the Maldives on a separate tour. But in Sri Lanka in hotels there are representatives of tour companies that sell tours to the Maldives, I don’t know what and how, but I think if you really want to, you can use their services.

If you plan in advance, it is better to choose not such a peak month as January, prices are just space. Consider October - November or March - April, during these periods there are free nights in hotels, for example, you pay for 5 - you live 7, etc. and a hotel in the Maldives is better to look at 4 *.

Hello!
