In short, I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
For those interested, I will share the experience of a 5-week stay:
The school itself is small, at each level there are 1-2 groups of 6-12 people (by the way, students are distributed by levels completely incorrectly, not tantamount to indiscriminate nationality. So, in my group of 11 students there were 5 Italians, and in a group of 8 people - 5 French, although no more than 20-30% of students of the same nationality in a group are supposed!
New students are divided into groups that have already been studying for 2-3 weeks or more, i. e. you get to the middle of the level, of course, it’s difficult for you, but the “old” ones are not interested in you, because their level is already higher ...
The teachers at the school are weak, unprepared, mostly all Maltese.
For example, Rebeka, the daughter of the headmistress of the school, does not have a higher education at all and, at the age of 25, she seems to have never heard of the subject of “pedagogy” ...And she is not the only one ...I had a teacher, a 23-year-old guy who was a computer scientist!
If you pay extra for Intensive (30 hours a week instead of 20 hours for General), then just throw away money and waste time.
Lessons are boring, repetitive. virtually no material.
The main course (General) is taught stupidly according to the textbook "New English file" or even worse: "Headway". Do you need it? ? With the greatest result, you will study in Moscow at any state. courses!
Yes, and if for some reason you did not like the group (weak teacher, students not in the level, etc. ), then it is impossible to change it!! ! Even the teacher at Privat lessons (private lessons) is changed with a creak (after the scandal, of course), and if you show gentleness of character, the answer will be: “unfortunately, we can’t help you with anything ... ”.
If, for example, you paid extra for intensive lessons, and then decided to refuse them, then you will not see the money, the rule at school is: money is not returned ...
About practicing English with students of other nationalities: I do not recommend it! Of course, sometimes it's cool (if you're lucky), but they are students like you, they say - mistake after mistake ...then it will be hard to relearn ...
The school advertises itself with its "super-organization", bullshit! For example, they changed teachers, groups and schedules every week for me! In addition to General, I took Privat lessons, so the windows between lessons were 1.5 hours! There was even a case of such a schedule: morning - Intensive, 2 hours break, then - General, again 2 hours break, at the end of the day - Privat lessons. Thus, the cheba began at 9-00, and ended at 18-00 (or even at 19-00)! So you can't see any sea!
Speaking of beaches: where schools are located (Sliema, San Julians) there are simply no beaches! You will lie on frozen boulders (do not dream of even slabs) ...
A few words about the organization of leisure (Activity) at the school: again, due to the tinyness of the school, groups are not recruited for excursions. The action plan is developed solely for advertising ...
Yes, the school is also proud of its rooftop cafeteria, so the choice there is scarce, and the prices are high ...judge for yourself: a small rubber pizza = 2 euros, a cup of tea = 1.5 euros. In a cafe on the street (2 min. walk from the school) pizza = 0.7 euros, tea = 0.5 euros!
Now about accommodation:
The school apartments are empty. I lived with Russians for 2 weeks, and for 1 week I lived alone in a 3-room apartment. apartment. Naturally, no English practice!
Yes, if you decide to live in an apartment, then be prepared to pay extra 5-10 euros per week for electricity and water, and 10 euros per week for sheets and towels! Also be prepared for minimalism: in a room for 2 people. only 1 bedside table and a small wardrobe with 3 hangers. The bathroom has only 3 hooks for 4 people, so the towels had to be placed in the trash can!
There are no shelves, each time the necessary personal items had to be carried from the room.
The school owns three buildings for apartments. I lived in block number 2 (15 minutes walk from the school and 2 minutes to the sea). The streets in Malta are very narrow, therefore, the windows of your house look at the neighbors opposite. The Maltese are lark people and, like neighbors, noisy! Since 8 am, workers have already been carrying out road work or making repairs in the house. My neighbors - the Maltese, apparently, were deaf people, because they turned on the TV at full power, in the house opposite the dog was always howling, and some, apparently, the future Chopin, pounded on the piano keys ...and if 2 Maltese are talking, then half the street will know!
By choosing this school, you can save up to 50-80 euros per week, but in return you will receive:
- surcharge for textbooks 30 euros
- complete lack of teaching methods
- lack of leisure.
In conclusion, I will reveal a secret:
The agency can strongly recommend this school to you, so keep in mind that they do this not because they really want to sell you a decent product, but because when concluding a contract, the school provides the agency with 2 weeks of free education!!!
