Island-bridge Murinzel

Murinsel artificial island, Murinsel
Austria, Graz
Murinsel Island Bridge is an unusual bridge on the Mur River in the city of Graz. It consists of two zones: closed, where a cafe-bar is located under glass, and open, where the amphitheater is located. A playground has been built between the zones. The bridge platform can accommodate about 350 people.

The author of the bridge is the famous American designer Vito Acconci.

The island was designed by American architect Vito Acconci on the occasion of Graz's 2003 European Capital of Culture award. This is a floating platform, built in the form of a giant sea shell, while pedestrian bridges connect the "shell" with both banks of the Mur River. The object looks very impressive in the night illumination. And in the center of the platform there is a cafe with delicious desserts : )
