The Palace of Queen Mary is located in the southwestern part of the city and forms a single complex with botanical garden. The palace was built by the Italians in 1931 and was the summer residence of Queen Maria of Romania. It is a beautiful three-level white building, incorporating elements of the Balkan, Byzantine and Turkish styles. The palace has a rich interior. It is topped with a decorative minaret.
