The Monument to the Soviet Army is located in the center of Troikat Square, northwest of the Archaeological Museum. It was erected in honor of the liberation of the country from the Nazis by Soviet soldiers and is a statue of a soldier standing on a high granite pedestal. There is currently a debate about the dismantling of the monument, as it personifies the communist past of Bulgaria.
