Sofia Synagogue is the largest European synagogue of Sephardim (Jews from Spain). It was opened in 1909. In the octagonal prayer hall hangs a huge chandelier weighing almost 2 tons. The interior of the building is decorated with works of applied art, the facades are decorated with plastic ornaments and stone carvings, and the floor is covered with Venetian mosaics. Since 1992, the Jewish Historical Museum has been operating at the synagogue.

This is one of the very few synagogues in Bulgaria and the largest of them. In a small museum you can get acquainted with the history of the Jews in Bulgaria. There is no set opening hours, just knock on the door and see if you can enter : ) The floor of the synagogue is covered with Venetian mosaics, inside is very beautiful.
