Nesvizh Castle

Nesvizh Castle, Nesvizh, Nesvizh Castle
Belarus, Nesvizh
Nesvizh Castle was founded in 1583 by Prince Nikolai Radzwill. The castle complex is located in the north-eastern part of the city of Nesvizh in the Minsk region. The stone castle was a rectangle with approximate dimensions of 170 by 120 meters. It was connected to the surrounding area with the help of a single wooden bridge, which was dismantled in case of danger. During the Great Patriotic War, the castle was practically not damaged; it housed the headquarters of the German 2nd Panzer Group. During Soviet times, the Nesvizh sanatorium was located in the complex. Since 2005, Nesvizh Castle has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There are many castles and palaces on the territory of Belarus (however, as in any country with a rich history). But, without a doubt, the most restored, "promoted" and attracting many tourists every year are: the Mir Castle and the Palace and Castle Complex in Nesvizh. Both attractions are located an hour's drive from Minsk in the direction of Brest along the M1 highway. Signposts installed along the route will lead you to the intended goal, even if you do not have a navigator. I visited these places in the summer of 2014, but believe me, the information will be relevant at any time, and visiting these sights is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent.

Nesvizh Castle, like Mir Castle, is one of the most visited tourist sites in Belarus. Usually travel companies organize excursions to both castles at once, fortunately, they are not far from each other. My husband and I love independent travel, so one of the summer days we went to admire the castle by car. Nesvizh Castle is located 110 km from Minsk, the Moscow-Brest highway, the road is excellent, there are signs, so it's hard to get lost. Tickets to visit the castle are purchased at the box office.
