The Prague Jewish Museum is a complex of buildings on the territory of the former Jewish Quarter, which preserves the heritage of Czech and Moravian Jews. It was founded in 1906 by August Stein and Solomon Hugo Lieben with the aim of preserving Jewish religious relics and things during the restructuring of the Jewish ghetto at the end of the 19th century. The museum has more than 40 thousand exhibits and 100 thousand books. The Prague Jewish Museum complex includes 2 Jewish cemeteries (Old Jewish Cemetery and the Jewish Cemetery in Zizkov), 4 synagogues (Maizelova, Pinkasova, Spanish and Klaus Synagogue) and Zal for rites. The museum has an exhibition that tells about the history, customs and traditions of the Jewish people. A cultural and educational center operates on the basis of the exhibition. More than 700,000 tourists visit the Jewish Museum every year, making it the most visited museum in Prague.
