Summer Palace of Queen Anne

Czech republic, Prague
The first building in the Czech Republic in the Renaissance style, built in the middle of the 16th century. At that time it was considered innovative - a square building with galleries on all sides. The Summer Palace of Queen Anne is located in the Royal Garden (near the Prague Castle). The construction was initiated by the King of Hungary and Bohemia Ferdinand I for his wife Anna Jagiellon. The author of the project is considered to be an unknown Italian architect. The palace was built over 27 years. Such a long period is due to the fire in Prague Castle, after which the work practically stopped, as well as a change in building plans. As part of a large-scale reconstruction in 1836, the palace has changed a lot in the interior, and also partly in the exterior. The last renovation took place in 1989. Currently, art exhibitions are held at the Queen Anne Summer Palace. Sometimes the building serves as a place for official receptions of the President of the Czech Republic. The doors of the palace are open to tourists from April to October.

The Queen Anne's Summer Palace is located in the Royal Garden near Prague Castle. This building, often called the Belvedere by locals, is considered one of the best examples of Renaissance architecture in the Czech Republic. The Summer Palace was founded in 1538 on the initiative of Ferdinand I of Habsburg. The emperor wanted to present it to his wife Anna Jagiellonian. Researchers suggest that the castle was not intended for the private life of the Empress, but for various events. The construction of the palace was entrusted to two architects from Italy.
