The oldest professional puppet theater in Europe and the world, one of the most famous in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. Tickets to the Speble and Gurvinek Puppet Theater are sold out in a flash, and it happens that it is impossible to buy a ticket in two weeks. Most of the characters not only play on stage, but also appear in cartoons. Gurvinek is known to the older generation of the post-Soviet space as a regular character of the children's magazine "Funny Pictures".

And it all started that way. In the 1920s, in the Czech city of Pilsen, during the intermissions at the summer puppet theater, the audience was entertained by a wooden doll Speble - a kind of naive fat man with wide eyes - stupid but confident in his great intelligence. He and his dialogues were invented by Josef Skupa, a professor at the School of Applied Arts. Carved by Noble carver Karel Nosek.
Six years later, his son Gustav made a stingy surprise by giving the professor another doll - Gurvineka, who, in addition to movements of legs and arms, could turn his eyes. The puppet author did not think that Gurvinek, a bit like Speble, would become his stage son. But from Gurvinek's first appearance on stage, the audience decided that he was Speibl's son. That's how it remained.

The theater has been operating in Prague since 1945. Old dolls have long been in the museum, and on stage delight Prague residents and guests of the city their copies. In 2010, a bronze monument to Speble and Gurvinek was erected in front of the theater. The author of the sculpture is Duš an Sotak.

Nearby, on the blank wall of the next house, the main characters of the theater are depicted. Speble and Gurvinek present different generations, "comment and reflect" on various topics, often pressing issues of education and life.
They are accompanied by Gurvineka Manichka's faithful friend and her pedagogical-mentoring grandmother Katerzhina Govorkova, whose premiere took place in 1971. Actually, these 4 characters are the main ones, and Gurvineka's dog Zherik became an additional one.
