The old shopping street of Anger has been the largest woad market for many centuries. Today it is the "architectural museum" of Erfurt, where Art Nouveau peacefully coexists with the Renaissance, and Gothic with the Baroque. When you walk along Anger, the main task is not to break your neck, trying to see another architectural masterpiece : ) What is vaida? This is the plant from which blue fabric dye was made. Erfurt in those days was the main center where blue paint was made from this plant. Moreover, he was a monopolist, and local merchants made their own fortunes on woad.
