Resting in Egypt, we not only wanted to constantly wallow and enjoy the wonderful Red Sea, but also to see something interesting. We bought an excursion to the pyramids of Giza from a local operator for 40 dollars / person. We were picked up from the hotel at 3 o'clock in the morning, we took dry rations with us, put us on the bus. We drove 550 km along the highway to Cairo. To be honest, there is nothing to see the desert and the highway from the window, and in the background the guide's voice in broken Russian told general information about the country.
Giza became famous during the Fourth Dynasty of the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt after the pyramids of Cheops (Khufu), Khafre (Khafra) and Menkaure (Menkaur) were erected here. The sculpture of the Great Sphinx carved here is also widely known. The statue, 57 meters long and 20 meters high, embodies the power of Man, God and Leo.
On the Giza plateau there are also numerous tombs and mastabas belonging to high-ranking officials and members of royal families, who, even after death, sought to be close to their ruler. Since ancient times, this place has attracted numerous streams of tourists. The tour included a visit to the Cairo Museum, the Papyrus Museum and of course the pyramids themselves.
After walking and taking a couple of photos of the Pyramids and the Sphinx, for one thing we learned from the guide that every evening at the foot of the pyramids there is a colorful light and music performance "Sound and Light". Powerful searchlights capture from the darkness, either one of the majestic pyramids, or the Sphinx, or even the entire necropolis. Enjoying this magnificent spectacle, the audience hears a fascinating story about Ancient Egypt, about the history of the construction of the pyramids. The performance is in many European languages, including Russian.
