House Mila

Casa Milà, Casa Mila, Casa Mila, La Pedrera, Pedrera, The Quarry
Spain, Barcelona
Mila House is a residential building built in 1906-1910 in Barcelona by the architect Antoni Gaudí for the Mila family, one of the attractions of the Catalan capital. The house was Gaudí's last secular work before he devoted himself entirely to work on the Sagrada Familia.

The design of this Gaudi building was innovative for its time: a well-thought-out natural ventilation system allows you to abandon air conditioners, interior partitions in each of the apartments in the house can be moved at your discretion, there is an underground garage.

In 1984, Mila House became the first building of the 20th century to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Casa Milla (La Pedrera) The main highlight (except for the facade) is the roof. Gaudi generally fought against faceless and sloppy roofs, but here something very special came out (apparently due to the spaciousness), strict (like the whole building), mysterious, similar to a castle. The audio guide is not bad, but disingenuous. He tries to quickly take him from the roof to the attic (aka the museum). The museum itself is not bad - here they will tell about Gaudi, and show models of his buildings, and briefly inform about the features of his work.

I ordered a ticket from home, via the Internet. Website http://www. lapedrera. com/ca/informaci%C3%B3-al-visitant Price per visit + audio guide = 20.50 euros (2014 value) Initially, the opinion of the people of Barcelona about the new house was not too high, Mila's house immediately received the nickname "Pedrera" (La Pedrera - quarry) for its memorable uneven and heavy facade. The building is a reinforced concrete structure with load-bearing columns without supporting walls. In order not to “cut” the room into pieces, Gaudí came up with his own unsupported ceiling system.

House Mila - the famous house "without corners" by A. Gaudi. From the Sagrada Familia, walk 15 minutes along the street. Provenca Carrer to the intersection with the street. Passeig de Gracia, Mila's house will be on the right. The house is very interesting from the inside, a whole floor has been preserved, where rich people lived with household items and various utensils. Here you will sit on a chair that the great Maestro “sculpted” specially from the bare bottom of the sitter - the chair will “sit” on you like a glove : ) And of course, go up to the roof to take pictures of Martian landscapes with tall warrior columns.
