This is the most popular place in Honfleur (the city is visited by 3.5 million tourists a year). Around the harbor, along the perimeter, there are interesting outwardly historical houses (colombage or half-timbered style). In the second half of the 17th century, the fortifications on the western side of Honfleur were demolished, which really interfered with the growth of the city. That is why buildings of different styles surround the harbor: large stone houses on the south side along the Saint-É tienne quai and tall, narrow wooden houses on the north side along the Saint-Catherine quai. The original design of Norman houses (in which a stove with a chimney is built into one of the side walls). For tourists, there are numerous cafes and restaurants, and inside there are many parked yachts and ships. It is this harbor that can be seen in the paintings of famous artists who liked to visit this seaside resort for recreation and work. Very atmospheric place.
