Bois de Vincennes

Bois de Vincennes
France, Paris
The Bois de Vincennes is a 995 hectare park in the 12th arrondissement in the east of Paris. This is the largest green area in Paris.

The park has four lakes: Gravelle, Minimes, Saint-Mandet and Domenil, the largest. Numerous artificial channels and fountains were cemented in the 20th century.

Highways pass through the Bois de Vincennes; For several decades, most of them have been closed to traffic and are accessible only to pedestrians and cyclists.

In the Bois de Vincennes there is a hippodrome, the National Institute of Sports and Physical Education, tropical and botanical gardens, a velodrome, a Buddhist pagoda and other facilities.

The forest is really very large, so it will not be possible to visit it at one time. Several visits are required for a long time. Part of the forest is fenced and the entrance to these areas is paid. On the free territory, you feel exactly in the forest, with the usual unkempt thickets and even with homeless people living in tents, a lot of runners. Therefore, if you want at least a little pleasant nature, then it is better to pay 2.5 euros for entry and walk there at least the whole day with benches, lawns, toilets and other attributes of civilization.
