Archaeological Museum of Vergina

Archaeological Site of Aigai - Macedonian Royal Tombs
Greece, Pieria
The Archaeological Museum of Vergina was opened in 1993 and is located inside a large burial mound. This underground structure was built to protect the found tombs of the Macedonian kings. The museum itself consists of tombs and a room where treasures from royal burials are exhibited as exhibits. One of the tombs, according to archaeologists, belongs to the king of Macedonia, Philip II, the father of the famous Alexander the Great.

I really liked the museum in Vergina. First, the unusual performance. The museum is located underground, in a large mound overgrown with grass. Entrance to the museum in small groups, because it itself is not large. Here, right underground, is the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander of Mcedon, as well as many items and decorations that belonged to the royal family. Very interesting and impressive! Artfully crafted gold jewelry with numerous small details from the thinnest sheet of gold strikes the imagination.
