Memorial Yad Vashem

Holocaust, Holocaust, Genocide...
Rating 10110

27 january 2017Travel time: 24 march 2011
Our group was brought to the Yad Vashem memorial in the morning. There was a little rain, which is not very typical for the end of March.
The entrance to the territory begins with passing through the check of bags, then we pass through the turnstile, safety is first of all.
What can be said about this huge museum? It is impossible to leave without tears. Diaries and records of Holocaust survivors, their personal belongings, works of art are presented to visitors in the museum, and accompanying video materials convey all the pain and bitterness of this indescribable tragedy in the history of mankind. I held on to the last, but at the Children's Memorial I gave up - I cried until they left. And in my head there are only questions: how could this happen in the 20th century? - ruthless murders of millions (!!! ) of innocent people.
In addition to the Historical Museum of the Catastrophe, the Children's Memorial, the 18-hectare territory also houses the Valley of Destroyed Communities, the Wall of Remembrance of the Warsaw Ghetto, the Hall of Remembrance, the Valley of Commons, a cattle car in which Jews were sent to camps, a functioning synagogue and many touching and soulful monuments, memorials and sculptures. I was also impressed by the Alley of the Righteous of the World, on which trees were planted in honor of people who were not Jews, but at the cost of their lives saved Jews from death.
Opening hours: Sunday to Wednesday from 9:00 to 17:00, Thursday until 20:00 (only the Museum of the History of the Disaster, the Art Museum with exhibitions and the synagogue; other objects - until 17:00).
The entrance is free.
