Barberini Palace

The Barberini Palace is located on the Four Fountains Street in the eastern part of Rome. The palace was built during the years 1627-1633 by order of Maffeo Barberini, the future Pope Urban VIII. Three great architects worked on the Barberini house - Carlo Maderna, his nephew Francesco Borromini and Lorenzo Bernini. The palace is decorated with a fresco by Pietro da Cortona and a snail staircase by Borromini. It currently houses the National Gallery of Ancient Art.

Great art gallery
The palace is famous for its wonderful art gallery, which is considered one of the best in Italy. There are paintings by Carravaggio, Raphael, Titian, Reni, Rubens, El Greco, Filippo Lippi and other great artists. The palace is decorated with frescoes by Pietro de Cortona, Sacchi. The best architects worked on the creation of the palace: Borromini, Bernini, K. Maderno. Interesting are the two staircases that were designed by the eternal rivals of Bernini and Borromini, one made squares, the other a spiral.→

Palazzo Barberini
Now the palazzo houses the National Gallery of Ancient Art. Pay attention to 2 very interesting stairs inside Borromini and Bernini. For connoisseurs. Visit if you are in Rome for the fourth time.→
