The Palace of Bishops is a place where church leaders have lived since the 14th century. The palace was originally built in the Gothic style, but has since been rebuilt and rebuilt after repeated fires. Now we see the result of the last major reconstruction after the great Cracow fire of 1850. It was designed by architect Tomasz Prilinski.

The facade of the palace bears the hallmarks of Renaissance and Baroque architectural styles. Now it is a two-storey building with three corner floors. These corners are decorated with belvederes, which gives lightness to the overall austere appearance of the palace. The same function is performed by Tuscan columns around the perimeter of the courtyard, double baroque arches-portals leading from the street to the courtyard. In the building itself you can visit the museum, which presents works by Western European artists of the XVII-XVIII centuries, Polish masters of the XVII-XX centuries, archaeological exhibits.
The classic palace, made in light yellow tones, attracts tourists not so much the beauty of architecture as history. Here lived Archbishop Karol Wojtyla, who later became Pope John Paul II. This is a holy place for Poles who are proud of their countryman. A monument to him has been erected in the center of the courtyard. The Holy Father held not only official meetings, but also informal conversations with pilgrims through the window of the palace above the entrance. Now on the so-called "Pope's window" - a portrait of John Paul II. And now on holidays many residents and guests of Krakow come here to honor the memory of the great Pole.
