Market Square

Poland, Legnica
Rectangular square located in the historical center of Legnica. As it should be for a medieval city, this place used to be used for trading, executing criminals and announcing the orders of the city council. The market square was badly damaged during the Second World War, many buildings were rebuilt. But two town halls survived: the Old one, built in the middle of the 18th century, now belonging to the local theater; The new one, built in the Neo-Renaissance style at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, is used for the needs of the city administration. Also on the square are several original fountains.

The market square, classic for any Polish city, is the most interesting place in the old part of the city, it is interesting to wander around here, sit in a cafe or eat ice cream. And of course a photo session. This square is more like a square in Poznan or Lviv, and not in Krakow, because although it is 4-sided, there are buildings in the center, so you won’t be able to see it right away, but you’ll walk around in a circle so that everything see and feel. As in all other Polish cities, you can see the town hall on the main square of Legnica.
