lumpini park
Lumphini Park, Lumpini, Lumpinee
Thailand, Bangkok
Lumpini Park is located at the intersection of Rama 4 and Silom streets. This park was opened by King Rama 4, who in 1925 allocated funds for the creation of a special park complex, where people after the Civil War and the First World War could go in for sports, walk, hold various concerts and festivals and just relax.
Lumpini Park got its name from the place in Nepal where the Buddha was born. At the entrance to the park through the central gate there is a statue of King Rama 4, who is especially revered in Thailand for his services to the state.
Now the total area of Lumpini Park is more than 57 hectares. There are two lakes, tennis courts, fitness classes, jogging and cycling tracks, numerous islands with equipment and exercise equipment for sports, playgrounds, a public library and a garden - a collection of palm trees. On a daily basis, gymnastics and fitness are held in the park for free every evening, which attract hundreds of people.
