For some reason, no one offered this excursion, so we just found a park on the map, agreed with a small tour agency near the hotel (Lae Lei, between Karon Beach and Kata Beach), we were issued a receipt and the next morning we were taken to the first entrance to the National park, east, there is a waterfall Ton Sai (Ton Sai waterfall). Since in Thailand any water that falls even from a height of two meters is called a waterfall, we were not particularly flattered about the size of the promised, but it was the rainy season and there was hope that at least some water would flow! In addition, an abundance of water accompanies an abundance of greenery, even the hyveas were somehow shaggy, usually they had a haggard look.
In fact, the walk turned out to be excellent, we walked along the riverbed, looked at the "pocket" riffles, climbed the path to the very threshold of the waterfall, where we were covered with quite glorious rain.
We read with sadness about the bitter fate of the gibbons kept in the Rehabilitation Center (this is by no means sarcasm - good children after such information will never agree to be photographed with a gibbon! )
Since there were no other paths, and the path along the river ended, we returned to our driver and drove to another entrance to the same park. And just in time, since a serious downpour had already struck here, the wipers of the car could not cope with the flow of water. Quite a long time we went around the Park along the highway and arrived at the second entrance, the western one, there is the Bang Pae waterfall. Unexpectedly, we were asked to pay for the entrance again, although we did not throw away tickets for the first waterfall, I don’t know directly, it was necessary to make a scandal, but there was no desire to do this.
The second entrance is equipped with a wonderful map, on which several routes of different lengths are laid out, you can choose what you like best, and at the same time make sure that you won’t get to the first waterfall from here just like that. Following the arrow of the middle route, promising three kilometers, we climbed higher and deeper into the jungle, recognizing plants that in our latitudes are found only in indoor pots. We came across a cheerful youth company, from their remarks and gestures it was clear that instead of Niagara there was a tiny stream. Well, yes, the waterfall was multi-armed, very harmless and cozy, the streams were sometimes ankle-deep.
I'm not sure that we walked at least two kilometers, but we felt like real travelers! And we laughed the loudest when we discovered that the foot of the waterfall, to which we descended, "having overcome all hardships and difficulties, " turned out to be about a hundred meters from the beginning of our route!
But around the corner, why didn't we see it before.
Taking into account the road, this outing took about five hours, I strongly advise you to take a walk, and it is quite possible to limit yourself to only one waterfall, on the western side, it seemed more interesting to us.
