In fact, this house has nothing to do with the English King Richard the Lionheart, who lived in the 12th century. It was built in 1902-1904 according to the project of architect R. Marfeld by order of DB Orlov. The house in the form of an ancient castle stands on a complex relief of the former chronicle mountain Uzdyhalnytsia below St. Andrew's Church. Monumental facades are decorated with architectural elements of fortress-castle buildings - various towers, spiers, jagged ends of walls and more. To the left of the house rises a tall tower with fortress features. The house was home to a number of famous artists and scientists. One of them, the artist GK Dyadchenko, has a memorial plaque on the facade of the house. Unfortunately, the reconstruction of the house has been going on for more than 20 years.
