St. Nicholas Church
St. Nicholas Church
Ukraine, Mykolaiv
St. Nicholas Cathedral Church was built in 1817 in the classical style on the site of a dilapidated wooden church. St. Nicholas Church was given the status of a cathedral when Nikolaev became the center of the Nikolaev-Voznesensk diocese. A parochial school was opened at the cathedral. During the years of godlessness, the cathedral was closed for 9 years and used as a warehouse. Despite this, original ornaments and paintings of the 19th century have been preserved inside the temple. In the courtyard there is a place for the blessing of water. Nicholas Cathedral is included in the list of architectural monuments of national importance.
