Family estate Galaganov in Sokirintsy

Palace of Galagans, Sokirintsy
Ukraine, Trostianets
Sokirintsy is the family estate of the Galagans, granted by the tsar to Gnat Galagan in 1716. The founder of the Sokirinsk estate and park was Colonel GG Galagan of Prilutsk, an ally of Peter I in the Battle of Poltava. In the rooms of the palace there is an exposition of the museum of the famous Ukrainian kobzar Ostap Veresai. The blind singer, who wandered around the Russian Empire and performed at the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, spent the last years of his life in Sokirintsy.

Galagany began to equip their family nest from the 18th century. At first, the estate was wooden, but over the course of several decades, the owners strengthened their financial position so much that they were dispersed into a full-fledged palace and park complex, no worse than that of their sugar-producing neighbors. Here they led their luxurious landlord life for a long time. Only the Soviet government was able to take the palace from the oppressors in order to use it for higher purposes - as an agricultural technical school.
Sokyrinskiy Park is an outstanding monument of Ukrainian gardening art. Created at the beginning of the 19th century. The area is about 600 hectares. Sokirinskiy Park was created gradually, from 1793 to 1835, mainly by local experts in park construction.

A beautiful old palace and an English landscape park with lakes, park structures and sculptures is a real monument of landscape gardening art of the past, a pearl of the architectural and landscape necklace of Ukraine. During the study, 76 species and forms of trees and shrubs were identified on the territory of Sokirinskiy Park. On the territory of the park there is the main alley, a pond (an area of about 10 hectares), a classicist palace, the so-called Gothic and Red bridges and other structures designed by the architect P.A.Dubrovsky in 1826-29. The decorations of the park are the palace and the rotunda (architect G.Dubrovsky). Currently, the building of the palace houses a technical school.
