Lake Synevyr

Synevyr lake
Carpathians, Synevir
Mezhgorshchina is rightly considered the most picturesque corner of Transcarpathia. It attracts travelers with forested mountains, cloudy meadows, fast-flowing rivers Tereblya and Chernaya Reka and healing mineral water springs such as Burkug.

But it has long been considered that the most valuable and most important treasure of the intermountain area is Synevyr Lake ("Morskoe Oko") at an altitude of 989 meters above sea level. Lake Synevyr was formed in the post-glacial period, about 10 thousand years ago, as a result of the overlapping of the river valley by shifts. The depression was filled with water from three mountain streams. The size and depth of Lake Synevyr varies depending on the amount of precipitation. The average area of Lake Synevyr is 4-5 hectares, the depth is 8-10 meters. The deepest point is 22 m. Lake, rainbow and brook trout feel good in clear cold water. And around the "Sea Eye" there are slender fir trees, whose age reaches 140-160 years. The water of the lake is cold even in summer - 10-19 degrees.
Lake Synevyr is one of the visiting cards of the Ukrainian Carpathians. There is a legend according to which the picturesque lake was formed from the stream of tears of the count's daughter Xin, at the place where her beloved, the simple Verkhovinsky shepherd Vir, was killed with a stone block on the orders of the vile count.

According to legend, Xin wept so bitterly that she flooded the entire valley with her. So Lake Synevyr appeared.

There is a hole in the bottom of Synevyr, which serves as a kind of natural water level regulator, and thanks to this, the lake does not overflow its banks even during the biggest floods.

People also tried to complement the beauty of nature - the architects successfully fit the viewing platforms into the surrounding landscape. And on the peninsula there is a 13-meter-high sculptural composition “Sin and Vir” carved from mahogany.

An asphalt road leads to the lake, but not everyone will be able to walk up for 30 minutes. There are taxis. Near the lake there are several restaurants, butcher's shops with souvenirs, on the lake are carried on a raft. The place is extremely popular, tourists go by stream.

Were on Lake Synevyr last year. Very cool place. We went up there on our own, the climb was rather difficult. Therefore, with the children who will go, keep in mind. We walked around the lake for about half an hour. Unbelievable beauty around, nature around, fresh air. The water is very clean in the lake - nice to look at) I advise everyone to go there.

We went on an excursion to the lake, we really wanted to see it. It is magical beauty! The pristine forest surrounding it completes the place with mysticism, blows with the power of nature and the spirit of the legends of these places! Take your time and take this tour. I'm sure it won't let you down in any weather!

beauty. Mountains, meadows with emerald grass, as in the TV series Utopia - just acid green, a lake. Of course, there are reasons, but looking at the reservoir and not being able to at least take a dip is a terrible test for me in the summer. A terrible road to the lake - two cars barely diverge, there is no sidewalk, and there are a lot of people walking on foot. And the cars have to go upstairs, and here people are huddled in the bushes so that they are not crushed. Be sure to collect water from the springs.

Beautiful nature. I recommend the hut "For Children To Tsimbor" on the way to the lake. Great place, great interior. Tasty and hospitable. Prices are inexpensive, but decent food quality. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great.

I do not know people who would remain indifferent to such greatness of nature. It would seem nothing special, but you can’t take your eyes off. This place beckons to itself again and again. And every time you fall in love with him more and more. This attraction is located in a hard to reach place. Entrance to the lake is usually paid. The ticket costs 15 UAH.

Entrance to the lake here is usually paid. The ticket costs UAH 15. But the locals on the way here complained to us that this fee is illegal and it is collected by someone just in his pocket. But early in the morning no one collected money, we made a face with bricks and went for free. But at lunch we already saw how all the tourists collected money. There are two roads leading to the lake. We chose a more difficult road, but also more beautiful. They admired the trees, the dew on the branches, slid on the mud.

Words cannot express this beauty. You have to come and see for yourself. The blue expanse of the lake, surrounded by ancient trees, is simply amazing. But we must take into account the fact that in half an hour you will not understand this. Those traveling in a group should take into account the climb up the mountain. And you need to do it slowly to enjoy the scenery. Otherwise, the impression will be spoiled. The lake is beautiful at any time of the year! I also recommend visiting the bear rehabilitation center.
