The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden is located on the National Mall opposite the National Air and Space Museum. The Art Museum was founded in 1974. Its three-story cylindrical building houses more than 11,000 pieces of contemporary art, including paintings by Picasso, Dali, Matisse and Lichtenstein, as well as sculptures by Rodin, Bourdelle and Koons.
