Holidays in March: Dubai or Pattaya?
I would like to relax together with my spouse for 10 days, we cannot decide where it is better to go. They weren’t in Thailand at all, they were in the UAE for one day, except for the Dubai Mall, they were nowhere else. In favor of the Emirates, not such a long flight, not such hot weather. Our goal is not a beach holiday, but excursions and shopping. Well, a couple of times you could get out for a couple of hours at sea. I suspect that in the UAE there will be cool water and windy. In favor of Thailand - the opportunity to sit in a street cafe with a can of beer for my husband and an abundance of fruit for me. Prices for tours are the same, shopping, food and excursions, I suspect, will be cheaper in Thailand. The issue of price is not so fundamental, I would like not to get bored, before we always went with friends.

You will not be able to swim in Dubai in March, although now it is still extremely hot and the water is 22-23. Pattaya in March is no longer so comfortable, the humidity is high, it's hot.
Prices due to the fall of the ruble can not be called low now either.
Well, shopping is still quite different in these countries.

We swam in Sharjah even in January, so in March it is all the more possible. Excursions and shopping are enough.

Yuliya, so January is warmer than March there)

We were from 15 to 22 March last year in Dubai. The water temperature was 24 -25 degrees (we measured it ourselves). Quite comfortable weather for excursions and for swimming. You definitely won't get bored there.

"so January is warmer than March there)"
Seriously? And how is the temperature distributed there, in general? When does the comfortable swimming season start without the sizzling heat? I myself was once at the end of October - the weather was optimal, but now I want to fly in the spring. Which month is best?

"Holiday in March: Dubai or Pattaya?"
Together with my husband for 10 days without the goal "Only the sea" I would choose Thailand. Most likely, not Pattaya, but Bangkok + Krabi.

At the end of March, according to the weather, the UAE is preferable, water 22-25, air up to 28-30. But sometimes it was cool even in the second half of March. It’s good to go to Tai in December-February, and then it starts to rain, this is noticeable in hotel prices. On excursions, Tai is at least an order of magnitude higher and 10 days is not enough for a third of excursions. In terms of shopping, the UAE is better and more compact for good goods (I think there is no shopping at all in Pattaya, with the exception of souvenirs and fruits. In Bagkok, you can do shopping, but live in the center for convenience. You did not mark the level of hotels, so it’s hard for me to recommend hotels in Jumeirah (Dubai) or 2 *, 3 * in the center of Dubai, in Sharjah there are on the coast and in the center. There are good hotels in Ras Al Khaimah, but it’s far to ride every day. the same category in Pattaya prices are much higher.Have a good selection of trips and holidays.

Yes, clarification in Pattaya, the bay is rather dirty, for clean water you have to go to the islands. Although the UAE also does not shine with transparency, but in calm weather it is cleaner than Tae.

For Pachok, I did not understand where you want to fly in the spring (specify the month).
аватар Pachok
Emirates, Dubai. Month - depending on the weather. I want to hear advice on when exactly in the spring it is comfortable there. Mid-April would be fine for me, but I'm afraid it won't be too hot already.
As for the cost of hotels in Pattaya, I can’t agree with you - neither Royal Cliff nor Dusit Thani have ever cost more than Emirates 5 *. And hotels of lower categories, in general, hold the championship in terms of cheapness among the mass resorts of our tourists.

Thanks to all who responded. I was in Dubai on March 20, I swam only in the pool on the roof, I remember the icy water and the fresh breeze. It was possible to sunbathe, but after the water I wanted to get dressed immediately. Very then I regretted that we had only one day at our disposal, I wanted to return. In Southeast Asia, they were in Hainan and Vietnam, but not in Thailand. Some of our friends are very fond of Pattaya and recommend starting acquaintance with Tai from it in order to feel the exotic. Others spit and advise only Phuket. The Bangkok + Krabi option did not come to mind, it needs to be considered. Frankly speaking, my husband is rather heavy on his feet, he will not master many excursions, the botanical garden and butterflies are unlikely to interest him. And I considered hotels Citimax Al Barsha 3 * in Dubai and Cozy Beach Hotel 4 * in Pattaya. The price is 130,000 and 122,000 in rubles, departure from Moscow.

Cozy Beach just cited as an example, because friends stayed there 4 years ago and were satisfied. Three rubles in Dubai chose the novelty of the hotel and location. Prior to that, they always stayed in fives, but went exclusively to a beach holiday, more often with children, so they spent a lot of time in the room. Now we plan to only spend the night in the room, so I wanted to save on a hotel and spend more on excursions.
аватар ovkomissarova
Although no, she lied, once they took 3 * in Bulgaria, experienced unpleasant emotions, but in the Emirates every three-ruble note is an order of magnitude higher.

For Pachok in the UAE, they preferred holidays in late March-early April (school holidays). We tried hotels in Ras al Khaimah, Sharjah, Dubai. For us, a good selection of 3 hotels on the coast in Sharjah - Carlton, Grand and Beach. There is Lilu nearby, but we were not there. Further Golden - I do not advise. The weather at this time, as I noted above. In 1995-1996 we tried it for the new year in the UAE - it rained for three days without sticking our nose out of the hotel (warm rain, it should be noted). It cleared up, we went to Dubai, on the Baniyas embankment again the rain crossed this street - the water was knee-deep. Therefore, I do not advise the UAE from December to the end of March. I was surprised by your question about a trip to the UAE, when is the best time to go? And you are well versed in 5 * hotels in Dubai. I compared hotels of approximately the same category, but the flight to Tai is much more expensive. Therefore, the trip will be more expensive. By the way, Royal Cliff is our favorite hotel, unfortunately we stay in the cheapest building. And if you go to Pattaya, then to Royal.

On the roof in the pool there can be a breeze and an unpleasant blow)))), and on the beach it was very good even at that time. We were in Dubai for the first time at the end of November and the second time in March. Of course, in November the water was warmer. But in March they also swam (even me !!!, in general, I’m a chill and for me below 24 degrees it’s already cold))))

thank you Larcom5. I was only in one hotel in Dubai - Rixos Palm Beach, but during the trip I visited several more. And for the second year now I have been reading different reviews on hotels, I am very interested in this - the country has become interested and I liked the service. I think our family will become a frequent visitor to the Emirates during periods when it is off-season in Turkey. And my question is about the weather, I want to hear the opinions of "eyewitnesses" :), but they differ very much :)
Your answer "water 22-25, air until 28-30" is the very specifics that I need, thank you very much.
And in Thailand, we avoid Pattaya: (One time was enough to understand that we have nothing to do there. Yes, and for the first time we fled to Koh Samui on the third day :) We go to May in Krabi, Koh Samui, Hua Hin, Phuket, everywhere we were lucky with the weather, although the seasons vary there. Definitely Bangkok for a couple of days.

ovkomissarova, when we were going to Thailand for the first time, several people also persistently advised us to visit Pattaya. I read about the resort and didn’t understand at all what I should do there: the sea is dirty (not just muddy, but really dirty), prostitutes, the dominance of “ours”, hot spots, go-go bars, etc. From friends: "no, that's just Pattaya - that's all." They say - you need to listen :) I suggested to my husband to immediately plan a combined tour, buy tickets in advance to the island as well, and leave time for Bangkok.
And so it turned out, as I expected:
- the sea is disgusting. The most decent is in the north of Pattaya (Naklua), but there was no desire to swim there either
- the main local entertainment - "we would like to drink, eat and fill up someone", and if you hear Russian speech, then in 80% of cases there is a discussion of how to distinguish a katoy from an ordinary corrupt girl
- almost all excursions offered in Pattaya are available from Bangkok, and most of them are geographically closer from the capital. Except, perhaps, Nong Nooch and Sriracha. And Bangkok itself deserves a visit not passing through.

And what else is a very significant difference between the UAE and Thailand for me personally - this is the method of organizing recreation. Hotels in the Emirates give the best prices to operators, an independent trip does not get cheaper. Going to Thailand "on a package tour" makes sense only when you are going specifically and only to Pattaya and there are "burning", and there are almost always there. In case of any "deviations" - only on your own. I see Russian registration in your profile - many of my friends from Russia even bought the cheapest last minute tour to Pattaya in order to use only the air ticket, which separately cost more.
