Winter walk
The climate in the Middle Urals is very changeable, in my memory it got cold to -48 in winter, but there are sharp thaws in winter, and heat up to 35 in summer. The end of the outgoing year was accompanied by snowfalls that decorated the forest with miraculous architectural forms shining in the rays of the winter sun. A walk of a group of tourists through the winter forest included a visit to the Medvezhka rocks on the Europe-Asia border and the Hanging Stone. The frost was moderately invigorating, conducive to energetic progress on the fresh, not yet compacted snow. The snow cover was a little above the knees, but a couple of times between the rocks I fell to the waist, and you can’t climb the rocks with skis, and they don’t really help in walking on loose snow.
The Europe-Asia obelisk, which in most cases is decorated with a granite pyramid, is problematic to drag onto the rock, so an openwork metal structure was placed here, which, unfortunately, requires regular maintenance, unlike a granite monument, and the path here is not close.
At the Hanging Stone, I fell through between rock outcrops - I couldn't see the path under the cover of snow, but this is a common thing for winter - I got out, dusted myself off and climbed further. But the air is crystal clear, transparent and fresh. Then there was a fire and a return by the light of the moon - it, as scientists reported, was especially large on these nights.
