From July 1 to 4.2016, I visited St. Petersburg with my family. In order to prepare the child a little for the trip, I bought him three books from the publishing house "Nastya and Nikita" - "Bridges of St. Petersburg", "Peterhof Capital of Fountains" and "Tsarskoye Selo". I highly recommend it for children of primary school age, my son read it with pleasure, then he recognized bridges in the city, in Peterhof he told us about fountains, especially crackers. Unfortunately, we did not go to Tsarskoye Selo this time.

So, our trip began at 9 am at the Leningradsky railway station, arrived in St. Petersburg at the beginning of the second, walked from the station to the Dynasty hotel on the street. Rubinshteina, 29. The hotel is very well located, clean, friendly staff, rent umbrellas, which was very useful to us on Monday. I didn’t like the breakfast at all, so I’m not sure that I would recommend the hotel for staying.

We had lunch in Khachapurnaya, which is located in the same building as the hotel, a very good place, tasty, not expensive, fast, we dined here one more time. Then we had to buy tickets for the meteor to Peterhof at the Admiral shopping mall. We went on foot to Nevsky Prospekt, along it we reached the shopping and entertainment center, where the model of the Petrovsky water area is located, we examined it with great interest, and got just on an excursion. The model is made with great love, it strikes a real body of water, where models of ships of that era go, scenes of balls, folk festivals.

There are buttons on the panel along the layout, when pressed, some figures start to perform actions: a lumberjack cuts a tree, a wood processing circle starts at a sawmill, and steam comes out of a blacksmith's chimney. Or even a fire starts in one of the wooden buildings. It will be interesting for both children and adults.

After that, we went to Palace Square, then along the Neva embankment to the Summer Garden, walked in the Summer Garden and walked back along the Fontanka embankment, there we went to the Taste Is restaurant, read a lot of good reviews about this restaurant, but, alas, we didn't like it at all. Not a big menu, the food is cooked strangely and not very tasty, only the lemonade was good and dessert.

The next day in the morning we had a guided tour, they told us some myths and legends of St. Petersburg, the route passed along Nevsky Prospekt, the Summer Garden and the Field of Mars, past the Mikhailovsky Castle. The day before, we walked along approximately the same route, there were already questions about some buildings and monuments, we liked the tour.

After the tour, we went to St. Isaac's Cathedral, climbed the colonnade, the views of the city are breathtaking.

Then we took a taxi to the Peter and Paul Fortress, went for lunch at the Koryushka restaurant, really liked this place, great views, delicious food.

In the Peter and Paul Fortress we visited the Trubetskoy Bastion. The exposition is dedicated to the history of the main political prison of tsarist Russia.

The exposition tells about the history of the Trubetskoy Bastion prison, about the fate of the prisoners who passed through its cells, about the features of the regime and the conditions of detention of prisoners. A separate section is devoted to prisoners of the Soviet era. Archival materials, photographs, layouts, multimedia programs, audio recordings with the memories of prisoners and, of course, the original walls, cells, corridors of the prison that have survived to this day eloquently testify to the terrible past of this place. Prison cells were restored for the periods of 1870-1872.1872-1879.1879-1898.1898-1917, with the help of models, individual episodes of prison life were reconstructed: the introduction of the arrested person into prison, the search of the arrested person, the visiting room, etc. The premises of the prison library and the chapel have been museumified.

We climbed the wall of the fortress, the service was already beginning in the cathedral, so we quickly examined it.

In the evening we went out for a walk, wandered to the Grand Cru wine bar on the Fontanka, a good selection of wines, took salads and dessert, the cuisine is at a very good level, tasty, unusual, one drawback, everything is expensive : )))

We spent the whole Sunday afternoon in Peterhof. It was very hot, only cracker fountains saved us : ))) We tried to buy tickets through the museum's website the day before, but we couldn't do it from the phone.

What was an unpleasant surprise for us was that we could not get into the Upper Garden, because for this we had to leave the territory of the Lower Park, and in order to return back, we had to buy tickets again.

The child was given a change of clothes and shoes, and he was happy to try all the cracker fountains. Of the museums, we visited only the Upper and Lower Grottoes, my son was interested to see how the fountains are arranged, my husband and I, too, since we were not in the grottoes either.

We took a train ride to Alexandria Park, next time we will visit it with pleasure. Very cozy, family place, with a beautiful park, an unusual gothic cathedral.

At night, we had a walk along the Neva, watched the bridges being raised from the water, a breathtaking sight, it looks even more majestic than from the embankments.

The next day, the summer in St. Petersburg was turned off, showers were started, leaving our things at the hotel, we went to see the Grand layout of Russia.

This is something grandiose, it is a pity that there is no such thing in Moscow, it is impossible to consider all the details in such a short time that we were there.

At 5 pm we left for Moscow, thanks to Peter for the good weather.

We will return again so that the son can now get to know this magnificent city in detail.
