Last year we traveled with the Kiev tour operator Tatur, so we were presented as a "group from Belgorod" and the receiving party bought tickets for us as for Russian citizens. I am writing this to the fact that if you want to save money, consider it as an option. But in general, tickets for Ukrainians and other foreigners (with the exception of Belarusians) cost the same and several times higher than for Russians (I could be wrong, but as an example, a ticket to the Hermitage for adult citizens of Russia is 150 rubles, for schoolchildren it’s free, and for us about 400-500). By the way, groups do not stand in general queues, believe me, this is also essential, especially during the season. If the question of how to go on your own is not fundamental, look at more offers for St. Petersburg from Delta Tour (Kyiv).

What about passports when buying tickets?

I don’t know how the identification of my own happens, I didn’t buy tickets on my own, I bought guides for a group, but the fact that the price is different is 100%.

I would also like to add that in St. Petersburg and at hotels, and right on the streets, for example, on Nevsky Prospect, they offer to buy excursions (as in Yalta), perhaps this option is closer to you. I can't give you a price estimate as I haven't looked.

Regarding prices in museums and churches (almost all of them work like museums!) - for CIS citizens, prices are higher than for Russian citizens (but not beyond! :)), and LOWER than for citizens of the European Union, the USA, etc. .d. We went on our own, but we bought an excursion to Tsarskoye Selo, Peterhof and the Hermitage directly at the hotel - this will save us later from huge queues at the entrance to the Hermitage and the Tsarsko-Selsky Palace. We had a 15-year-old child with us, a Ukrainian (!) schoolboy - I didn’t need to show my student ID anywhere, I looked like a St. Petersburg schoolchild everywhere! :) But my mother couldn’t get a Ukrainian pension discount anywhere :(

Moreover, you will not be asked for any passports at the box office! Do not "shock" and do not "gakaite" and everywhere you will buy tickets at prices for Petersburgers :) We did it this way everywhere :)
Have a good trip!!!
