Spoiled vacation
On the day of arrival, it was raining, no, not rain, but a downpour, the Takalaburi hotel does not have a visor, and while we got our suitcases from the transfer, we were soaked to the skin! After the proceedings and finding out that we were until March 8, and not until March 7, and we paid accordingly, they made copies of our posparts and asked for a credit card number: (! Then we were taken by electric car to our room, where we got wet again a little dry : )
The first impression of the hotel is not very good, there is construction going on around (the hotel itself and another hotel are being built), the hotel does not have a fence, and its territory is divided in the form of triangles with another hotel, it is located between 2 roads (one along the sea, the other behind - Cars run frequently. All photos on the hotel website are PHOTOSHOPED. The pool also has a romantic view of the road, without a fence and bushes! A ditch was dug near the building and there is a terrible swamp.
In the room itself: it was raining from the ceiling in the shower room (if you can call it that, a nook painted with paint), the furniture was made of concrete (except for the trestle bed and the table), the floor and walls were painted right on the plaster, the door in the closet was broken, during the three days of our stay there bed linen was not changed! Only towels! We had breakfast included, but on the first day there was a buffet, and then a custom-made menu with mini portions - we don’t like to eat in the morning, but this breakfast seemed dietary for us! There is nowhere to eat except in the hotel restaurant - I do not take into account 2 cafes with plastic dishes that have not been washed for 5 years! We even disdained to eat, of course I imagine the cuisine and expensive restaurants in Moscow - but by Moscow standards, this is a cheburek at the station next to the toilet! Our health was more precious to us, and we had lunch and dinner at the hotel restaurant on average for $80-100 at a time without alcohol, which is 4-5 times more expensive by Thai standards!
We saw an announcement at lunchtime that happy hours and a second cocktail were free in the evening - but during the evening itself, this was allegedly canceled! The price for a cocktail is 260 baht in the center of Khao Lak 130 baht, $ 100 = 3100 baht.
Now about the beach device. We arrived on a honeymoon trip that we dreamed of spending in the winter by the warm sea - figurines to us! The hotel itself takes out 8 mattresses every morning at 10-00 and lays them out on the grass along the road opposite the speedboat pier (excursions to the Similan Islands are taken from there), no umbrellas, no shower, no sun loungers! The sea is clay! When asked by the administrator where we can lie down, we were sent to a paid beach - 100 baht for a sunbed and an umbrella (the quality is terrible) - and plop there for 15 minutes, so there is NO question of swimming and then showering!
In the end, fucking, we went to the center of Khao Lak on the morning of the third day and found a hotel that we liked Nang Thong Bay Resort (our tour operators do not offer it), a room with a sea view and a garden villa cost 2500 baht, a villa by the sea (actually in 5 meters from the beach) - 3000 baht at the end of the season and there were no free villas. But the room was 100 times better! Read reviews for this hotel. The spa that the hotel offers is a rip-off - thai massage 1200 baht - in the city from 250 baht (right on the beach) to 450 baht. In general, I do not recommend. And we concluded that it is better to book everything ourselves.
We are constantly settled in hotels from which travel agencies receive not frail kickbacks. Everyone is happy except for the vacationers themselves. Rescuing the rest is the work of the vacationers themselves!
