We rested at the Tropical Beach 4 * hotel (Turkey) from 08/18/2010 to 08/27/2010. Rested with my son (9 years old). I want to make a reservation right away - I will write a review on this hotel based on the fact that we were in Turkey for the first time, but the review will be in comparison with other countries where we had to visit (after all, everything is known in comparison).....
Everything is in order. We flew with the operator Intourist. Departed from Yekaterinburg without delay.
The food on the plane is good.
Everything went smoothly at the airport, we did not have to look for representatives of Inturist for a long time - the organization in this regard is good. We got on the bus and drove off. Due to the fact that there were tourists from different hotels in the city of Alanya on the bus and as they landed at their hotels, the trip took a total of about two hours (this is given that our bus was small and there were only 8 tourists If the bus is large, then it will take more time to deliver you to your hotel). Our Tropical Beach Hotel is located almost the last one in the village of Kanakli before reaching Alanya. We were the last to drop off.
I will make a reservation right away about the currency that you should take with you: take dollars. Why? I had EBROs with me, and I went crazy with them, because. Turkey has its own exchange rate. And it is extremely unprofitable to pay in EBRO. In this, I screwed up.
We arrived at the hotel. The reception is small, I would say small (maybe it is not big, because the hotel itself is small). We were greeted by our guide Elman (he is Turkish) and we were told that our room was being cleaned and we were asked to go to dinner, which we did. Then the settlement began. We were led past a large pool to small one-story houses (as it turned out, there are only two of these houses in the hotel and they stand side by side). The house is dark inside, nondescript, there was no balcony, because. they are only 1 floor, no view from them, but the front door looked out to a large pool. Of course, I said that I would not stay here, because. I'm used to a beautiful view from the balcony (or better, the sea), and preferably not on the first floor, and in general I didn't like the room. I went back to the reception saying that the room did not suit me, to which I was told - sorry, there are no other single rooms, the hotel is 100% full. I say - then give me a double room, I'm ready to pay extra, for which I was told - the surcharge will be very expensive for you, it's better to go to Turkey several times for this surcharge))))) In short, we stayed in this house. As it turned out later, this is for the best (when you travel with a child, he constantly runs around to pee, then..... , then something else. In general, it was convenient). The hotel guests are mostly Russians and Germans.
Separately, about the territory of the hotel. Like I said, the hotel is small. Consists of 3 and 4 storey buildings. All rooms have a view of either the pool or the garden, except for ours of course))))))))) Everything is very nice. The restaurant is located on the beach on a platform. There is nowhere to play. But although, there is a mini-zoo in this hotel. My son really enjoyed feeding the ducks and geese in it. As a rule, after dinner, we took half a loaf from the dining room (hid it in a bag) and went to this zoo. Ducks eat from the hand.
Walking along the beach is not interesting, because. there is no vegetation and the beach runs parallel to the road, along which buses and cars constantly drive.
There are two tennis tables on site. The deposit is $20 to take two rackets and a ball. Also on the territory there is a place where you can play volleyball (on the beach). Every day games of darts, volleyball, aqua aerobics, water football and target shooting were organized (i. e. animators walked around the hotel and called everyone to these games).
Nutrition. The food in the early days was poor. I was shocked. By the middle of the rest, at least something began to be liked (in the evenings, they cooked meat / chicken / fish on the grill for dinner). Basically, on the tables of the dining room there were watermelons, grapes, sometimes melons and plums (everything from fruits), salads seasoned with all sorts of nonsense (and all sorts of things were stuffed into salads), cold spaghetti, potatoes, tomatoes and cucumbers, powdered juices and so on. We mostly took fresh tomatoes with cucumbers and something meaty (and of course my son ate watermelons). My son is very picky about food and it was a problem for me to feed him. Of course, he eats spaghetti, but in this hotel they were always served cold for some reason, but who likes to eat them cold?
On the third day, the son, as a result, swallowed something (either he drank from the pool, or from the sea, or maybe something didn’t work out of the food), in short, he stayed with me for 4 days. Naturally, he didn’t have an appetite these days, moods, too, and strength, of course, all these days he sat in the room without leaving the toilet. The nearest pharmacy from our hotel (as Elman told us) is three kilometers away. I had a lot of pills with me, but no diarrhea. We normalized digestion only with strong black tea. Elman told us about insurance that, of course, a doctor will come for you and take you to the hospital for an examination, but only the initial examination will be free of charge, and any pill for a fee. And from this I was in shock.
The sea is restless. It is impossible for children to swim alone. There are no wave barriers.
Excursions are a different story altogether. When meeting with Elman, he gave us a list of excursions and pictures attached to them. I chose three excursions from this list (one of them is two-day), to which the guide told me, after calling someone that there were no free places for the selected excursions during your stay. And here I was at a loss that this could even be. Do they have a shortage of buses or tour guides? In short, excursions were selected from those for which there were places. Yes…………
We took an excursion to Debre-Mira-Kekova. A very good tour, let me tell you. True, the guide was a Turk who spoke Russian, and his accent became unbearable by the end of the day. We also took excursions to the dolphinarium and the water park, and, well, to HAAM (bath).
What else?
There are a lot of positives and a lot of negatives too. But I was in the mood for good from the very beginning of the holiday, so all the negativity was a trifle. Although he was))) One departure was only worth something. We were supposed to leave the hotel in the morning, but the schedule was changed and we were told that we were leaving the hotel in the evening of the next day (for a separate fee, of course, for the room if no one claims it). In short, we still packed our suitcase in the evening and went to bed. Early in the morning, when we were still sleeping, our guide called our room and said that the departure schedule was changed again and the plane was still leaving in the morning, and said that the bus would come for us in 15 minutes. How do you like that? What if we hadn't packed our suitcase since the evening? In general, while we got to the airport (at the same time, having collected all the tourists from other hotels, which were also taken by surprise), there were 15 minutes left before departure. The plane was of course delayed and we safely landed and flew))))
In every hotel and in every camp, of course, there can be and there are failures. It's just the first time this has happened to me. Do not think that we did not like the hotel and Turkey itself, but in comparison with other countries....this is certainly something. When we were in Thailand, I thought that Thai sucks compared to the Canary Islands and the Dominican Republic, but Turkey....I better not say anything.
My conclusion (no offense): Turkey is designed for an economical holiday and nothing more. If this happens (as in our case), you should immediately tune in to the positive, otherwise the rest will be ruined. I am not a spoiled girl by good countries, but I think if I first went to Turkey, and only then to Europe, the response would be different.
