Is it possible to buy tickets and book a hotel room on my own?
We are going to have a family vacation (in autumn) in the same hotel where we were last year. Will there be a difference in cost if you do not use the services of tour operators? Because we are not going to leave the hotel. Please let me know if this makes sense...

Tickets can only be purchased from WIZZ AIR. You can book a hotel on the hotel website. Calculate the cost of all this, add a taxi transver from the airport and back and compare the amount with the price on the websites of tour operators. But there is one "but". You can only book an air ticket in advance, and you can only see the real price of tour operators, especially in autumn, when there can be big price reductions, only a week before departure. So you can't compare. But I don't think you'll win much, if at all.

Amir1 - sometimes it's better to check the information thoroughly than to say something without making sure. Naturally, planning a trip on your own will turn out cheaper, because. You will not have to pay the costs of maintaining the office, salaries for employees and much more included in the cost of the voucher. There are a lot of air tickets, you can even choose flights based on price, number of transfers and other things, for example, on the Skyscanner website. Hotels are booked on Booking.com and the price difference is very decent. We always travel on our own, we promised to travel with travel agencies, and now we fly to Turkey on our own, saving more than 20 thousand rubles for a family of 3 people. here and count. Excursions if you need to buy on the spot, many times cheaper than from TO
аватар Amir1
stigma sometimes, before you say anything, you really need to check the information. For your information, except for WIZZ AIR, no airline sells tickets to Turkey, other flights are ONLY charter flights. The question was asked about the autumn season, when very often seats on flights and tours attached to them are "burning" and a good 5-ku can be bought for 700-800 dollars for 2 with all inclusive. Can you do it yourself for that kind of money??? And the hotel can be booked not only on this site, but this does not change the essence of my answer. I said "you need to calculate what is not possible" and explained why. Learn to read answers carefully and respect the opinions of other experts. I myself am a tour operator and I know what's what and how. How many years have you worked in the travel industry?
аватар abysfinks
What about Aeroflot? I bought a charter in October - I had to urgently fly away from a vacation for a day to Moscow. Flew with one airline, arrived with another. It cost 10,000 rubles. I don't see the point in buying everything separately. One taxi will cost a pretty penny. Another thing is if you have a free (bonus) flight of some airline and go to an apart hotel for $ 35 per day. Then it makes sense.
аватар stigm
Amir1 are silent about a lot =) Why did you grab onto your WIZZ AIR? Tickets are sold by many airlines, for regular flights, both direct and with transfers. Both from Russia and from other countries. Moreover, airlines sell tickets CHEAPER than tour operators, verified! The transfer is not so expensive 100-120 euros round trip, but the meeting is individual, and you don’t have to wait for the whole bus to fill up. There is no desire to order a transfer, you can leave by bus for 20 euros. Hotels at the beginning of the season and at the end also offer all sorts of discounts and promotions. There is no need to enter last-minute trips here, let's consider standard situations when a person is just planning his vacation. Having planned it in advance and on your own, the person ultimately remains in the black, very tangible, compared to a travel agency, whatever one may say =) By the way, you are not a tour operator for free, all the expenses of your office, advertising, your salary are included in the cost of tours.
And if I can do the same as you, but on my own, why pay more?
аватар HotLine
And I have my five cents.
Each answer has its own truth.
Amir1, while in Thailand, answers about the situation with departures from Ukraine, where the only non-charter flight is with Visa Air, and seats on charter flights can only be bought from operators.
And the one who asked the question is from Russia, and there the situation with flights is the same as other participants in the branch write.
But according to the calculation scheme, Amir1 is absolutely right - you need to count, especially for tours in the low season. There is no one rule - "it is cheaper independently". Otherwise, the tourism business would not exist in the form it is now operating all over the world. And the reason for this is very simple - many hotels sell places to operators with discounts from the price of the rack. 20% is enough for all costs of intermediaries. Hotels that achieve a high proportion of self-sells give small discounts to operators. In such hotels, an independent tour can be cheaper if you collect such a tour yourself.
As a rule, these are old, long-established hotels. And the cost of a charter flight is the cheapest of all possible schemes.
We checked the calculations many times. Once we calculated a tour to the Rixos, Papillons and Marty Mira. A self-assembled tour turned out to be cheaper than a package tour from the operator only for Marty
аватар HotLine
And no hotel promotions can compare with the prices that the operator gives when his flight is on fire.
аватар helena_fortuna
We rest both through tour operators and on our own.
I understand that you are going to LAPHETOS BEACH 5* for the 2nd time? Of course, they will give you a discount at the hotel.
From your review it is clear that most of all you did not like the transfer (via operator) - I see no reason for an independent trip and ordering a transfer from your hotel.
Price-wise it will vary. Not always cheaper, but just the way you want it!
Have a good rest!
I won't tell you by air from Russia.

I do not argue that the shares of hotels can not be compared with a last-minute ticket. But let's say, what is the probability of getting a last-minute ticket for a family of 3 to a certain country on already approved vacation dates? I will not deny that there is a small percentage, but it is so insignificant that after the decimal point I will go astray counting zeros in order to get to the desired numbers. So what's better for me? Threatening a vacation hoping to get the last-minute deal for 0.00% of a percent and thereby missing out on all the benefits of early booking (namely, the price of air tickets, hotel reservations), or spend several hours of time and choosing exactly what I need? By the way, another huge plus in favor of independent rest, I choose hotels in which there are practically no Russians. No, I love our country, and everyone probably loves it, but here's the paradox, the more Russians in the hotel, the more "scoop" turns out.
All the same, Europeans rest differently, more cultured or something. There is less noise, they don’t interfere with sleep at night, they don’t get drunk until “do you respect me?” etc.
аватар HotLine
Fully agree with the principle. I formulate it like this - if you are interested in specific dates and a specific hotel - do not risk your vacation, book in advance.
But there are other principles as well. I wrote about some above. For example, not for all hotels an independent tour is cheaper than a package tour from an operator. Here in the winter they argued with one of the lovers of independent formation of recreation. A person with experience campaigned very confidently and was going to book the Melia Sinai hotel in Egypt himself. I showed a package tour to this hotel one and a half times cheaper than her self-calculation.
There is another principle - buy a hotel that does not provide an all-inclusive diet, and ours will not be there either.
Another principle - there is no one best hotel. There are more than 1000 hotels in Turkey today. You can always find several comparable hotels at the same price. Or the best in one price. Or an analogue of a loved one at any price. Etc.
Hence the conclusion - you can buy at the moment when it is convenient, and not when you need to.
The most important thing is to be open to information.

I personally prefer to travel to those places where an individual tour operator will collect much more expensive than my searches) on May 14 I set off on a journey through Turkey, Istanbul, Cappadocia, Oludeniz, Dalaman, and back to Istanbul for the F-1 Race. If interested, I will answer questions. Tour operators cannot find such trips on the go.
аватар Lena_Elena
mixailovaelena You must draw conclusions for yourself that it is more convenient for you. Save money if you can but take a steam bath with hotel reservations, tickets and transfers or buy a ready-made tour. I've come across this, sorry for the expression hemorrhagic such that my mother is dear. Maybe this is so problematic for Ukraine, because really book a hotel for a month, as they ask and in which they give you prices that are not cheap (I was offered a price at the hotel for a week, such as I rested from a tour operator for 12 days and nothing worried) it’s not possible to adjust to the tickets, because only WIZZ AIR really fly. The advice here is good and it's up to you.
аватар Katyyy
irishka S, what was the cost and duration of the trip, where did the departure come from???
I rested in Oludeniz twice - an amazing place, both in beauty and in atmosphere, this is a completely different Turkey))) have a nice rest!!!

Lena Elena, I did not notice any difficulty with booking. Just for the sake of interest, I spent a few minutes searching. And what happens? Tickets from Ukraine to Turkey from 8410.00 rubles there and back, for 1 person with all fees. Tour operators offer tickets for the same flights at prices ranging from 18409.20 to 29769.00. Flights are operated by Turkish Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Aerosvit Airlines, etc. it's already more than one Wizz Air =) Next, no one forces you to book a hotel a month in advance! You can book a hotel at ANY time, at least 2 hours before the plane (the only thing is, do not cancel the reservation, because you get penalties in case of cancellation in the amount of the cost of 1 night stay), for example, when I was sailing to Stockholm, I booked the hotel directly on a ferryboat.
The only thing needed for self-booking is a credit card, I use a debit card as I don't have credit cards from banks and I'm not going to start one.
The seeker may find =) Have a good rest!

For stigma. This is what I wrote above several times already. There is no universal principle - it's cheaper on your own. Otherwise, there would be no great European tour operators - TUI, Neckerman, etc.
A few notes:
1. Turkey and Ukraine are big. What are the airports of departure and arrival in question.
2. Tour operators do not "offer tickets for the same flights". Tour operators offer tickets only for their charter flights. With Turkish and Austrian airlines, NOBODY from Ukrainian operators flies to Turkey. Therefore, NONE of the Ukrainian operators can offer tickets for these airlines.
3. Tour operators sell tickets for their charters, but only for the next flights. Those. today it is impossible to buy seats for flights from any operator in Ukraine, for example, June, July, etc.
4. Prices above $350 on charter flights to Antalya do not exist. For example, Pegasus now offers Kyiv-Antalya-Kyiv tickets at a price of $249.
It is much cheaper than what you mentioned above.
Therefore, your phrase "Tour operators offer tickets for the same flights at prices ranging from 18409.20 to 29769.00." - is wrong. To put it mildly.
аватар HotLine
Let's write it off on your principle - "spent a few minutes searching"
аватар stigm
For Hotline, perhaps I did not fully express my thoughts, and there can really be rumors =)
Flight for 8410.00 Simferopol - Istanbul, involves paying online to accepted airline intermediaries who charge a small percentage for the service. But tour operators, travel agents, and last minute shops can act as intermediaries, which you can pay in cash at the office (for example, in St. Petersburg, you can pay for booked tickets in cash at the Zemnaya Axis travel agency, tickets are 5-7% more expensive) or through terminals for payment for services, after all, our people are more conservative compared to Europe, and online shopping is only gaining momentum. In this case, the price tag will be significantly higher, due to the fact that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. the intermediary buys tickets from the intermediary n + 1 and winds up his interest, therefore, the more links in the chain Airline - intermediaries - buyer, the higher the final price.
By the way, with regard to Ukraine, a not sickly increase in the cost of tickets was noticed if the same flight is operated simultaneously by 2 companies, for example, Turkish Airlines and Donbassaero or Dniproavia. What this is connected with - I don’t know, the plane is one. Is my point clearer now? =)
аватар Lena_Elena
Oh, something the discussion has already turned into some kind of proof of who is right. stigm thanks for your advice and I hope that if I can boldly call myself a traveler (because I haven’t grown up yet or haven’t finalized it, to be more precise), I will definitely use the advice. But for now, I can agree more with HotLine, since it was precisely with this that I encountered that NOBODY except Wizz Air flies from Kyiv, and they can sell tickets for a charter only a week in advance, which did not suit me, because in my case just (these are there were hotel conditions, I won’t go deeper) it was necessary to confirm the reservation a month in advance. And it was difficult to compare tickets with the reservation, since there were no tickets for the required dates or the flight was through Istanbul.
аватар Lena_Elena
I hope travelers from Russia will have more luck, as there are more choices in the country than in Ukraine.
аватар HotLine
For stigma.
The idea is understandable, because this time it is correctly formulated.
This branch almost completely repeats the one in which the tour to Melia Sinai I mentioned was discussed.
The same freezes.
Who needs a Simferopol-Istanbul flight for a vacation "in the same hotel where they were last year" (from the question)? What do these prices say?
For a long time there are no intermediaries "2nd, 3rd, 4th" on tickets. At least in Ukraine.
The ticket office commission today is a maximum of UAH 200-250 ($25-30) on an international flight. Moreover, it is fixed, not percentage. Any normal airline ticket seller has an online booking. For example, http://www.otpusk.com/aviabilet/
Here, intermediaries have long had nothing to do.
Etc. etc.
There is no need to pull facts by the ears as evidence of your principles. Wrong and uninteresting.
All over the world there are operators, agents, direct booking of hotels and flights. It has its economic meaning.
open your mind.
Sorry for some harshness, but "Simferopol - Istanbul" is too much.
аватар stigm
I will not discuss, because in Russia, there are somewhat different orders, and living here I proceed from personal experience and the experience of my friends, the same independent travelers. I cite only what I myself, or my friends, have encountered, but you, dear HotLine, living in Ukraine, give arguments, both as a tour operator and as a person who daily encounters the realities of life in Ukraine. In the end, you are right, and I am right, and the truth is somewhere nearby. I consider the dispute over, in view of the fact that the topic is smoothly rolling over to the possibility of flying from 2 different countries. I admit that there are more opportunities to fly from Russia =) Finally, I note that Russia is also big, and the flights I need, for example, from St. Petersburg, either do not fly, or cost inadequate money, or simply do not suit the dates. This does not prevent me from flying from Moscow, Riga, Tallinn, Minsk or Helsinki for an order of magnitude cheaper. This is to the question "Simferopol-Istanbul", although there are other flights from Ukraine to Turkey =)
аватар Irishka_s
Katyyy, I am flying from Yekaterinburg, through Moscow, to Istanbul, then to Nevsehir, there is a bus to Fethiye-Oludeniz, and then a flight from Dalaman to Istanbul and back. So far spent 54t. for two, this is the cost of flights and hotels in all places, duration 16 days
аватар HotLine
The difference between Russia and Ukraine is quite small - 100 dollars. Every day up to 10 Kyiv-Moscow flights.
And today it is cheaper to fly to Antalya from Kyiv than from Moscow - $ 150 round trip. If you book in advance, then you can fit in $120.

Please tell me about booking a hotel in Turkey. http://www.booking.com/ I book - they require a credit card and a cvc code, which is kind of dumb, especially since I book for 700 euros. Should this amount be on the card? Or is the daily amount enough for non-arrival? (penalty for non-arrival at the hotel - they remove the daily amount from the card)
I also shop on ebey and I have a virtual card with cvc, so I was not recommended to pay it, they said that it is better to get an embossed debit card.
And another question, having arrived in Side on your own, at the end of July, is it really possible to find a hotel, a boarding house for 25-35 euros? a restaurant to eat? By the way, how much does a lunch without alcohol cost on average? I was in Thailand, so there were no questions at all with food - it is so much cheaper that I didn’t even put the amount into spending) How is it near the sea?
аватар helena_fortuna
On booking.com - you need to read what type of cost.
They may ask for the full amount.
We booked 4 times via booking.com and entered the requested details.
I use a special card for the Internet - ie. which is always the minimum.
When we booked, there was not enough money on the card. Moreover, you can pay in cash or with another card.
аватар helena_fortuna
Penalty for non-arrival - usually yes, they charge a daily amount.
But, only in case - if YOU DID NOT HAVE TIME TO REMOVE THE RESERVATION.
/The conditions on booking.com are quite loyal - there is always time to cancel the reservation/.
But - read carefully - there are hotels with high penalties,
and SUCCESSFULLY CANCELLATE YOUR BOOKINGS.
аватар ikrared
I read the conditions, and if the amount on the card is in the amount of the daily fine?
аватар ikrared
the amount on the map is clear.
to eat in restaurants in Turkey, the price is comparable per day for two: $ 100 need to be pledged?
аватар helena_fortuna
If in Antalya - then approximately - yes.
Although corrected - you can find for any budget.
Somehow, we lived in the Old City (stayed at Antalya Dantel Pension) - we went to a restaurant for lunch for $ 6.5 per person. Very tasty.
And yet - usually, they offer to pay extra for dinner / or lunch - agree. Drinks are not included with dinner, however, you need to pay extra.
We rested and, only, with breakfast,
and with breakfasts and dinners,
and in All inclusive.
But - for themselves and this year - again chose
Talya Divan with breakfasts and dinners.
