We rested at La Madrugada Beach Resort, Zanzibar at the beginning of March 2016. We looked at the reviews, photos on the Internet.
Location: there are no cafes nearby, there are no shops, there is nothing. The beach is terrible. The slabs that lie in the water are very dangerous (slippery, crooked) walking is not possible. A step to the side, a lot of algae and hedgehogs.
Hotel: the rooms are very tired, they stink. I wanted to throw out the mosquito net over the bed, it was very dirty and dusty. Towels as well as bedding (it's scary to pick up). The rooms are standard, as it turned out upon arrival, the air conditioner is paid, $ 10 per day or a noisy fan driving hot air (38 degrees) included in the price of the tour.
Meals: we stood in line waiting for the potatoes to be fried. Portions are brought for two people. The assortment is very scarce. All you could eat was an omelet and a small selection of fruits.

The ticket was only for breakfast, but we saw what kind of dinners - 1 dish per person. It didn’t make sense to have dinner at the hotel. It was cheaper to rent a car and go 11 km to a restaurant. $.
As a result of the rest, given the place and the hotel, you can take a little more, but at the same time: do not look for a beach where to swim, do not look for a car to go to dinner and not be afraid of where we arrived.
Outcome. The voucher turned out to be more expensive due to additional costs.
The feeling of the trip is that they are not going to see you here for the second time. They are trying to squeeze the maximum out of you, anywhere on the island (when seeing a white man, prices are multiplied by two).
I do not recommend anyone to go to this hotel.
