Eight years ago, I brought to a common denominator the spelling of the name and surname in the technical passport of the car, the driver's license with a foreign passport. Two years ago I received a biometric, and in it I am no longer Igor, but Ihor, and one letter has changed in my surname. They said with a responsible expression that everything is in order, up to three differences are allowed. I believed, and in August I will check, it's time to go to Italy.

The reservation is valid only on the old passport because there will be other series-number in the biometrics. If the transliteration of the name has changed under the new law, you can write an application to save the old spelling (fortunately it already works) If the old passport is out of breath, it’s better to reissue everything. alex45, agree that Michael is called Michael the official language of the country that issued his passport. Ukraine does NOT change names and surnames. Ukrainian spelling is transliterated into Latin. Accordingly, if my name is Iryna in Ukrainian, Iryna will be in Latin. Throughout. My last name ends in yuk. And before they wrote as -uk. And now you need as -iuk. I don't mind. It's just that the old is more familiar. Although the new spelling is probably more literate.

About 10 years ago, the difference of one letter in the passport and technical passport for a car cost me 50 dollars on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
In the technical passport, I was written Yulia in the old way, and in foreign countries, according to the transliteration existing at that time, I was called Iulia.
