Can you tell me the basics when planning a trip to Rome?
ItalyRome
I want to go to Rome with my 16-year-old son, but I don’t know where to start. What visas are needed from Moscow, where is the cheapest and best place to stay, where to eat, what to see and what are the pitfalls? We always rested with Pegasus, but he doesn’t have a tour to Rome. Thank you.

To get started, go to the reviews here in Italy, more specifically in Rome, read everything that people write about this trip. Go to any search engine (Yandex, for example), type for example - a trip to Rome. A lot of information will pop up. two lines about this in the "questions and answers" is impossible. Go to the forum here, also look at this topic. And you need to start the trip by compiling a route with all the flights, ask other companies, maybe there are trips to Rome. Go to my account, I have a report on a trip to Rome. For the first time, I think you need to go with a group, then maybe you can do it on your own, when you get your bearings a little.

Thanks Alex for the advice, tk. I also have the idea to visit Rome on my own (with my family) without a tour, although I have already been to Rome 2 times (tour and business trip)).

thanks, but what about visas? I change my son’s passport, it will be clean there, will they give me a Schengen?

No tour needed. Plan your trip yourself..Book a hotel, preferably somewhere in the center. You can here on this site www.hotels.com. With a hotel reservation, go with a questionnaire to the embassy and get visas. There are practically no responses. Then buy plane tickets and fly. At the airport, a taxi to the hotel and that's it!! You are free!!
No agencies .. crowd breakfasts and dinners that they give. Be sure to visit the Vatican. If you take a hotel somewhere in the Spanish Steps area, you can walk to all the sights.
If you are going to watch the Last Supper, keep in mind that tickets must be ordered online 2 weeks in advance.

thank you very much, but which airline is cheaper and more reliable to fly, with whom to book tickets, and how do they correspond with the star rating in hotels in Rome?
аватар MILS82
With stardom in hotels, everything is in order. How much they gave, so much they write .. this is not an Egyptian resort :)
Anyone can fly. Depends on financial possibilities. Aeroflot is the most expensive, but the service is good. Alitalia is cheaper but the service is worse. With a transfer somewhere in Vienna it will be cheaper, but a transfer ... see for yourself. We fly twice a year, in winter and summer, with Aeroflot. There are a lot of ticketing websites. If you fly with Aeroflot, book tickets directly on their website

why I didn’t write about an independent trip, that a person hasn’t traveled anywhere yet, and I’m from Ukraine, you are from Russia. The conditions for obtaining a Schengen visa are different for you, with us, MIL, it’s not so easy to get visas. I don’t recommend anything for flights from Moscow, but as a general recommendation, low-cost airlines (budget airlines) are cheaper than regular flights, all this can be viewed in the air ticket search engines, they were laid out in the self-tourism forum thread. If you are interested in an independent route, then if you reset E -mail- I have a development of how to spend time in Rome on my own, and in my report I described the trip in some detail.

By the way, MIL, we have no booked plane tickets and even without a bunch of paperwork, according to your financial and social situation, you can not stumble into the embassy. If you can get a Schengen visa with only a hotel reservation and a passport, then you are lucky)))

how complicated everything is! probably the first time to Rome is better through an agency, they make a visa to Rome?
аватар alex45
Why is it difficult, you won’t try it yourself, it will never work out. Go to the website of the Italian embassy and see what documents are required to obtain a Schengen visa, and do everything that is written there and go for a visa. if there is chemistry, then it’s better not to. For some reason, I can’t advise you on a visa, I’m in another country, you may have other troubles.
аватар MILS82
Italians have the same document requirements in any country. I don’t know how the requirements in Ukraine and Russia may differ. There is no difference. Don't listen to anyone.

I answered you! If you, as you wrote, that you can go to the embassy with a passport, a hotel reservation and fill out a questionnaire, get a visa, then in Ukraine this is not the case. Believe me, I have come across Italians! There is a thread on visas on the forum, if you are interested, read. So, not the same requirements in different countries

First of all, book a hotel or apartment. Cheaper, you will be given a voucher confirming the booking for opening a visa, choose only a company that has been on the market for a long time and has many offers. It is enough to use the Google search engine, writing "apartments in Rome" or apartments, it doesn't matter.
