My wife and I flew from Kharkov on October 29.2013. Air Arabia airline. First to Sharjah (flight about 4 hours), then to Colombo (about 4.5 hours). At the airport they exchanged dollars for local money, rupees. The course is 128, quite good, in Kalutara then they changed it at 127. The locals say the price in rupees, and then if necessary they transfer it to dollars, this applies to everything except excursions. The distance to the hotel (Hibiscus) is 40 kilometers, but it took 3 hours by bus. Despite the fact that it was early in the morning and there were no traffic jams. They settled us in room 221, the most extreme and under it a dining room. From the balcony you can see the neighbor's yard and there is a smell of food, we went to the reception and asked to change to rooms on the second floor (200-220). We were told that there were no seats and they would appear after lunch, but a bottle of vodka as a present did its job. After 30 minutes we were moved to room 215, quite decent with a view of the pool.

Immediately after that, we went to the beach, where the locals began to get acquainted and offer excursions (having seen new faces and the lack of sunburn). But we decided to swim first, and then think about leisure. Feeling the power of the ocean and the tropical sun, we went to rest on the sunbeds at the hotel. You lie down and rest and through the fence you are offered to buy different clothes (in shops through railway crossings, prices are half the price). We bought two coconuts from the locals for 100 rupees, which they brought in 5 minutes already with straws. They didn’t feel heavenly pleasure (as in the Bounty advertisement), the juice looks like a sour melon. When the sun was at its zenith, we realized that we had to leave, because even under the shade of trees you get burned. We went along the beach in search of a Paradise cafe (read the reviews), just a couple of minutes walk and we were there. We regretted that we took breakfast and dinner at the hotel in the package, the prices in the cafe are quite democratic and everything is very tasty.

The fruits are delicious, but closer to the hotel there is a mini-bazaar where the fruits are cheaper and not inferior in quality. Tuk-tukers will not only take you, but also show you the best places to buy and choose good goods, because they have their own interest. When we arrived at the hotel, it began to rain heavily, which lasted until the night. The whole rest was like this in the first half of the day, perfect weather, and then rain, but this fact did not mar the rest at all. A day later, we went on an excursion with Nisa 40 dollars for two: we swept along the river, a photo with a crocodile (a tiny, tortured crocodile), a turtle farm, instead of a mine where precious stones are mined, they brought it immediately to a jeweler, showed the end result, then brought it to the Bentota lagoon bathe. There were no waves, unlike the beach near the hotel.

A day later, we went with the merry Madu ($ 100 for two), a local beach fight, to Kandy, a tea and pineapple plantation (turned out to be vegetable gardens), elephant riding (2000 rupees per person for 5 minutes), but the elephants were very sad. The elephant nursery was never shown, citing a misunderstanding in the initial agreements. This trip took a whole day. Then we had seal days for a couple of days, just laying on the beach. My wife went for a massage (2000 rupees for 1 hour) at the Paradise cafe, I really liked the relaxation massage. Everyone tried everything in this cafe: tuna, barracuda, crabs, shrimp, lobsters, there are also oysters and sharks on order. The vacation is short and we did not experiment with other cafes (the price and quality suited us). We also went on an excursion with Chan to a local waterfall ($20 for two). Andrey and Marina met good people from Kyiv, with whom they spent the whole vacation.

In the evenings, we arranged a mini-party in the evenings near the pool: fruit, rum, vodka, whiskey. So it was a great vacation, it's time to fly home. I advise everyone to visit Sri Lanka, good people, great weather, fantastic seafood. If you need any advice, write (elksnit@ukr. net) - I will answer.

P. S. no need to create a cult of Nisa (as some members of this site did), all other residents are also very good and ready to help
