Fortress wall of Gorda

The fortress wall was built in the 16th century and is located south of Gordes Castle. The wall has only partially survived to this day, part of which is the Savoy Gate, formerly called Portal Costubague. The first mention of them is found in 1540.

The ancient fortress wall of Gorda was built already in the 16th century in order to protect the townspeople from the raids of marauders and bands of deserting soldiers during the Hundred Years War. Partially preserved to this day. And from the wall there are excellent views of the Luberon Valley.
